Having dined all over the world these past 40 years in some of the world’s finest fine restaurants, back street noodle shops and street stalls, I have seen all sorts of behaviour by restaurant staff but never have I come across such appalling service/behaviour as we experienced at Chueca. Having dined all over the world these past 40 years in some of the world’s finest fine restaurants, back street noodle shops and street stalls, I have seen all sorts of behaviour by restaurant staff but never have I come across such appalling service/behaviour as we experienced at Chueca.

First, one of our party arrived 15 mins ahead of our booked time to be told they had released our booking because we were late (!) and then when we were all finally seated the server and then the manager that we escalated to displayed nothing but contempt for myself, my wife and our two friends. The “manager” was uninterested in our wondering why we were not told when we booked that they didn’t have a liquor license, and then was down right rude when we challenged him about his dismissive behaviour towards us. We were left in shock. A man who claimed to be the owner tracked us down in a nearby restaurant to apologise but the damage was done.

Needless to say we didn’t get as far as the food - I mean, who would stay and pay to be treated in such a manor.

For us the future does not look bright for a restaurant where such behaviour exists.

Awful. We would never return.

BYOB cos no liquor license yet.Normally for Spanish restaurants we preferred to order a lot of small plates; but server highly recommended the lobster rice so we decided to go for that as well (even tho I’m not a fan of lobster).We also asked if we could order bit by bit (so the dishes could come in a staggered fashion as with the case of tapas) but server would have none of it. Fine de Claire oysters- personally I preferred more fleshy ones. Also the salty sea-water flavor was too rich for me.

Tuna tartare and ikura tartlets- nice crunchy base. Particularly liked the mashed avocado on the bottom.

All our neighbours ordered the garlic prawns but really couldn’t stand to de-shell again after the industrious job with the lobster.
Dessert: creme caramel. Rick and thick.

Highly recommend this newly opened Spanish place in Central, definitely a thumbs up for tapas lovers 🎊Here’s some of my favourite tapas 🥳▫️ᴛᴜɴᴀ ᴛᴀʀᴛᴀʀᴇ - this comes in 4 pieces, with a very generous portion of tuna tartare with a crispy base, super appetizing 👍▪️ᴄʀᴏϙᴜᴇᴛᴀs ᴅᴇ ᴊᴀᴍᴏɴ 🍖 - one of my favourite tapas!▫️ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ ᴇɢɢs 🍳 - this is a famous spanish dish which is made of fried eggs, chorizo and potatoes 🥔 Got to mix it well before you taste it!◾️ʟᴏʙsᴛᴇʀ ʀɪᴄᴇ 🦞 - the lobster sauce was done just ri

Walked into this new place for lunch, even lunch is just a la carte so we ordered a few tapas to share. All were pretty ok although nothing really stood out - bastante bien. The prawns and the bikini toast are recommended. Sharing for 2 definitely still feel hungry 😅, with that price probably there are better options.

前 Optimist 的總廚 Chef Jordi Valles 自立門戶,在中環九如坊開了一家西班牙餐廳 Chueca。因為認識 Optimist 的前經理 Louis Simbulan 得知行情,特意在 soft opening 首天光顧。 選址配合形象,小街小巷的 bistro,佈置輕鬆簡約,周五晚上,份外熱閙,幸好我早到可拍照。餐廳的水有特別安排,使用瑞典品牌 Nordaq 優質過濾水,因此需收費每位$20,可以無限飲,我覺得合理。當晚冇得揀嘅是必需點套餐,每位$550,有得揀是那一款主菜,對我來說,當然是加$100/位依然超值的龍蝦飯,Chef 的招牌!本來包括五款西班牙小食,今晚送生蠔。 Oyster肥嘟嘟的生蠔很新鮮,沒有多少海水味,最特色是附上的香水樽噴霧一支,原來吃法是噴上 Chardonnay Vinegar 白酒醋,本來生蠔與白酒就是絕配,蠔味口中輕輕變化。 Tuna Tartare 非常好味,生吞拿魚肉配牛油果,口感潤滑鮮甜,配上海帶一條及若干三文魚子,添適量鹹香,有助提味,撻皮脆而不厚,整體組合非常理想,必吃之選。 Seafood cocktail配料多元豐富

肥嘟嘟的生蠔很新鮮,沒有多少海水味,最特色是附上的香水樽噴霧一支,原來吃法是噴上 Chardonnay Vinegar 白酒醋,本來生蠔與白酒就是絕配,蠔味口中輕輕變化。

非常好味,生吞拿魚肉配牛油果,口感潤滑鮮甜,配上海帶一條及若干三文魚子,添適量鹹香,有助提味,撻皮脆而不厚,整體組合非常理想,必吃之選。

主角出場,質素如在舊店一樣出色,原只龍蝦,下面的米飯吸盡精華,再加上魷魚、洋蔥、蕃茄及 sofrito 西班牙蕃茄醬,極之 juicy 及 yummy,滋味無比!唯一可點之處是對我來說個汁有點偏鹹。

Very exceptional chill ambiance; we could sit at bar table by the street; food is exceptional, oyster, tuna tartare, red prawns & cheese are what we love. Boss Heracio is very friendly and accommodating. Eric gives very clear explanation on food & recommend according to our wants. Wonderful dining experience!
