今晚又去食我最愛的牛脷燴意炒, 其實每次都食, 應該唔會有咩錯, 老字號令我有童年的味道, 但係今晚竟然嘥咗我個胃首先order咗法式焗洋蔥湯, 因為焗要起碼15-20分鐘啦, 點知5分鐘就到, 見到已經唔對路, 完全唔覺有焗囉, 係應該原盅焗喎, 個湯好淡, 好似溝咗水咁, 放係湯面嘅多士根本食唔落口, 硬過石頭, 啲洋蔥炸到燶哂, 真係倒胃口. 到個意粉啦, 唉.....牛脷賣哂就出聲啦, 加咗啲咸牛脷一齊煮, 食到有啲牛脷都仲未入味, 求其白烚加埋個汁就扮係, 欺騙我哋嘅味蕾以上兩樣食物我由細食到大, 餐廳有無heart做定係hea做, 客人係食到的, 咁樣做法, 唔怪得去到見到餐廳越嚟越少客啦!

朋友提議到這兒,看食評也知沒有什麼好吃。訂了位,卡位靠窗,不過落了窗紗,沒有景望。原來這高級餐廳都有午餐,七、八十元一個餐還可接受。如果散叫就貴得多,最普通的三文治和通粉都貴到嚇死人。點了馳名的瑞士雞翼,朋友說沒有以前的那麼咸。炒牛河又只是加了瑞士汁炒,味道還可以。一心想試試其他口味,怎知燒豬髀不是一隻燒脆了的豬髀,只是三片薄薄的豬肉,上面又淋了瑞士汁。全瑞士汁宴,我自家製的豉油雞比它的好得多。侍應的服務麻麻,裝潢也不見得什麼特別。聞名已久,但不知憑什麼得到食家的愛戴。附近相近消費的餐廳多的是,質素肯定好得多。試一次便夠。

Read the place's history on its museum-esque display cabinet and enjoy the old school decor as well as charming server uncles.
We started off with a nice and refreshing shrimp, fruit and potato salad, which was excellent for a hot day, and a lobster bisque, which was really rich, generously filled with lots of seafood bits and pieces (note: I personally prefer their oxtail soup, but it wasn't part of the set...and I'm always mad about set meals), which I mopped clean with buttery, slightly sweet, soft and fluffy buns.
We chose the roasted pigeon in "Swiss" sauce. The pigeon's perfectly cooked, crispy skin, tender and juicy meat, flavorful sauce....and I did the unthinkable...I sucked the brain of the roasted pigeon in public. Yum!
We (of course) ordered one of Tai Ping Koon's signature dishes, TPK Style Fried Rice Noodles in Swiss Sauce. Greasy yumminess. Although it was delicious, the beef slices were succulent and juicy, the noodle was wonderfully chewy, the greasiness of this dish made me feel super guilty.
No touristy visit to Tai Ping Koon is complete without TPK's baked souffle!
It's light.
It's airy.
It's gigantic!
It's always fun for me to see tourists' reactions upon arrival of the giant souffle.
The souffle is very mildly flavored, my favorite is the top part of the souffle. It's more of an entertainment really ;)

星期六晚在中環覓食,亂行到太平館,記憶中一直以為價錢很高,怎料見套餐都是百多元,也可接受。當晚都差不多8-9成滿坐。我們叫了一個乳鴒餐和一個燒豬、牛脾餐。紅湯 - 不是太出色,普通沙律 - 有7-8只蝦仁,味道不錯燒乳鴒 - 招牌菜,雖然肉有點實,但都惹味燒豬脾牛脾意粉 - 像白雲豬手的豬脾肉,加比較難咬的牛脾,味道又是瑞士汁焗葡國雞飯 - 太飽,打包了回家。第二日用microwave 叮熱,味道不錯jelly甜品,很多舊式餐廳感覺服務: 侍應都會不停主動幫你催食物和換碟加茶,不過就奇在最後找數時,比了10多元的貼士,都沒有一句多謝。環境:一般吧,舊式港式西餐感覺雖然食物其實全部都是瑞士汁,但我都會再光顧的。可能,就是一份情結吧。

天冷食, 鐵板都係差d!好少可地來中環食, 仲係食西餐.此餐廳cwb 都有, 但係真係少去.估不到原來有咁耐歷史!上了樓上, 幾cozy!有卡位, 正.阿叔好friendly, 介紹了不少野.最後叫了基本的牛柳餐, 135蚊.好快上, 先上d包, 好正, 鬆軟又甜.點d 羅宋湯, 正!D 湯唔水, 足料, 菜好食, 一流, 係必食! 唔好叫白湯呀!!!個扒, 叫了5成, medium, 但成吋厚, 鐵板上, 好香!但可能天氣太凍, 鐵板唔夠sizzle, 煎極都唔到5成!3-4成啦. 但肉質好, 冇所謂!妹都係叫扒, 大家都冇問題, 食得好開心!雲信的芝士蝦都好食, 係焗了的芝士飯, 好yummy~服務ok, 哥哥好熱情. 多謝!

An out of town friend from the US came to visit so a bunch of us went out for dinner. Since we didn't want to go too pricey I suggested we go to Tai Ping Koon. Haven't been here in almost 10 years but I used to go to the Causeway Bay branch a lot as a kid. Environment: Place was pretty comfortable and well lit. An out of town friend from the US came to visit so a bunch of us went out for dinner. Since we didn't want to go too pricey I suggested we go to Tai Ping Koon. Haven't been here in almost 10 years but I used to go to the Causeway Bay branch a lot as a kid.

Environment: Place was pretty comfortable and well lit. Definitely still had an old school HK cafe vibe.

Service: Waiters were friendly and food came out quickly. When we were doggie-bagging some of the leftovers it took them 1-2 time to get it right but that was minor.

Food: We totally over-ordered. Between the 7 of us I feel like we easily ordered like a 9-10 person meal...haha. Here's most of the items we ordered:

Borscht Soup (羅宋湯) - If you like Cantonese-Western style Borscht soup (they substitute the beets for tomatoes) you will love this. The soup is rich and flavorful. Awesome start to the meal.

Swiss Sauce Chicken Wings (瑞士雞翼) - I haven't had this dish for about 10 years. Still a very good dish but I find their signature Swiss Sauce a little too sweet for my tastes now. Chicken was cooked well.

Swiss Sauce Beef Ho Fun (瑞士汁牛肉炒河) - To me this combination went better with the Swiss Sauce. The ho fun was chewy and cooked properly while the sticky & sweet Swiss Sauce was a nice compliment to the savory beef. Nice.

Roast Pigeon (燒乳鴿) - Big fan of roast pigeon and the pigeon here hardly ever disappoints me. Pigeon was gamey and flavorful. Meat was pretty juicy when I ate this.

Ox Tongue Braised with Port Wine (缽酒燴牛脷) - I've always ordered the boiled ox tongue so this was a nice change. Meat was braised to a point where it was really tender yet still juicy. Almost couldn't tell purely from texture you were eating ox tongue. The rich port wine sauce was really nice. Thumbs up.

Boiled Corned Ox-tongue (烚鹹牛脷) - Always a crowd pleaser. Such a simple yet tasty dish. Big fan of the chewier texture of the ox tongue .Some people may find it a little on the salty side (myself included) but it goes so well if you eat it with some rice or bread.

Portuguese Chicken with Rice (焗葡國雞飯) - Not bad. I found the sauce to be a little too sweet for me. Chicken also felt a little on the dry side. If you want to try good Portuguese chicken nearby I tried a pretty awesome one at Luk Yu Teahouse.

Souffle (梳乎里) - You can not come to Tai Ping Koon and not have their signature basketball sized souffle. Always a conversation starter since it is gigantic...haha. Make sure to order ahead since the wait is 30 minutes to cook. The inside of the souffle was super light (almost like a foam at times) and the flavor was subtle. Pretty nice way to end the meal.

Note: The price of our bill was unusually high mainly because we ordered quite a bit of wine and totally over-orderd in regards to the amount of food.

I can say not everything here at Tai Ping Koon will be great but all their signature dishes are hearty and yummy. Reminded me a lot of my childhood coming back here to eat. Plus with good friends and good food...that's always makes a meal super enjoyable for me.

今日與朋友二人來到中環石板街附近覓食,思前想後來到士丹利街的著名老店太平館。太平館為著名老牌食店,除了一眾光顧多年的長期捧場客外,這裡還搶攻遊客生意,門面及內部均裝修得很美輪美奐,桌椅裝飾也是高級西餐廳的貴氣格局,就連菜牌也有齊中英日語言方便遊客落單。太平館為瑞士雞翼之創辦人,其實是以帶甜味的鹵水汁作的鹵水雞翼,但因言語上的誤會錯把 "Sweet" 當作 "Swiss" 而已。來到太平館,我們當然也不會錯過這個名菜。最後我們點了個二人套餐,除了瑞士雞翼外,還有海龍皇湯及燒豬髀飯。 海龍皇湯:足料的海鮮湯,除了三隻大蝦外,還有數片魚片。味道很好,也不會太稠太稀。 太平館瑞士雞翼:以鎮店的瑞士汁煮成的雞全翼。瑞士汁香濃可口,也不會過份甜;而選用的雞全翼也非常肥美,汁液微微滲入雞翼內,由外到內也很美味。 燒豬髀飯:豬髀燒成外皮微焦,再切成薄片,配以瑞士汁上碟。另外白飯以碟另外分上。味道不錯,但略嫌份量太少,兩位用每人只有兩三片,不夠喉吧。 甜品及餐飲:甜品為普通的雜果啫哩,餐飲則點了凍檸茶,兩者也不見突出,味道與一段茶餐廳如出一轍吧。 整體食物質素還不錯,味道也好,但略嫌份量太少。畢竟

整體食物質素還不錯,味道也好,但略嫌份量太少。畢竟是二人套餐,半碟白飯加上兩隻雞翼及三數片豬髀肉,食量小的也只能僅僅足夠。而且連小費索價每位近二百元,以這個價錢來吃個瑞士雞翼加飯,又未免有點過份。難道遠道而來的遊客不會覺得昂貴,而熟客們也特別闊綽嗎??

太平館都算係一間我幫襯得頗多既餐館,不論中環定銅鑼灣我都去過頗多次以上,其中最大既原因就係因為我屋企既老人家鍾意去,佢地好多時唔想食中餐既時候就會話去太平館。今日亦然,約了老人家吃下午茶,她提出去太平館,我們當然順從她的旨意。一向覺得中環這間不太好吃,但既是她要求,我們亦唯有照去了。不過今次來到發覺食物比以前好吃得多了,真的進步了不少,大部分食物也不錯。我們叫了一個瑞士雞翼意粉,下午茶只需$50,價錢算便宜啦。意粉彈牙軟硬度適中,只是味道較淡,即使加了瑞士汁仍然差一點點呢。不過雞翼倒是很好吃,肉質超滑,又肥美,加上瑞士汁真的不錯。另外叫了一個瑞士汁干炒牛河,這個是正價份量,所以大碟得多。來到賣相雖然一般,但吃下去味道是挺好吃的。瑞士汁不會過甜,牛肉很淋和有肉味,河粉亦夠滑,只是了少少已有很「漏」的感覺,趕好我們是數人一齊Share,一個人都幾難吃得完。另外我們叫了一個葡國雞飯,很香椰汁味,份量亦是大的,雞肉稍為un了一點點,不夠嫩滑,頗多薯仔作配料,喜歡椰香的應該也會喜歡這個葡國雞飯。最後要了梳乎厘作甜品,嘩,真的是超大個。我們吃完已是100%飽了,超香蛋味,這個梳乎厘的表面是挺有彈性

太平館出名吃乳鴿,很久沒去過,於是上星期一家人去品嚐。可惜那乳鴿的質素認真差,比起我多年前吃過的味道差得多。記得以前的乳鴿是豉油焗的,又香又甜又多汁,比美澳門的佛笑樓;那天吃的呢,卻是油炸的,又乾又柴皮又無肉味,真是令人失望,亦嘆息為何一間老字號的食店會如此不濟,其他食物也麻麻,肯定以後都不會幫襯。

太平館出名吃乳鴿,很久沒去過,於是上星期一家人去品嚐。可惜那乳鴿的質素認真差,比起我多年前吃過的味道差得多。記得以前的乳鴿是豉油焗的,又香又甜又多汁,比美澳門的佛笑樓;那天吃的呢,卻是油炸的,又乾又柴皮又無肉味,真是令人失望,亦嘆息為何一間老字號的食店會如此不濟,其他食物也麻麻,肯定以後都不會幫襯。

在中環,想吃雞亦,除了這邊別無他選吧!點了梳乎里,還有主角瑞士雞亦意粉,兩個人吃就差不多了。雞亦是這店子的名菜,吃了多年味道仍然如一,雞亦頗大隻,瑞士汁的濃道亦適中,不錯;梳乎里,是以大size而享負盛名的,很軟身很滑,相當好吃。雖然價錢略高,但在其他地方吃不到的味道,都是物有所值的吧!

昨天和朋友2人返完教會去慶祝她找到新工作決定了去太平館因為感覺上夠大體百年老店嘛~~~~~~本想到cwb的但在central行完h&m後central那間就在後面街所以選擇了這間!叫了一個signature set for 2海龍皇湯/蝦沙律我們選擇了前者, 有埋2個大餐飽個湯濃淡適中真係好好味仲有2片魚片同埋3隻蝦飲完已經飽左一半!!瑞士汁雞翼/乳鴒選擇了雞翼幾好味呢干炒牛河/瑞士汁炒牛河(可轉肉片!)選了後者ookk 但係就幾油下2個女仔只食左3/4碟飽死了!!!Dessert- 雜果jelly般般因為小女唔好的~Drinks- tea/ coffee一般成個餐係$315 +10% service charge = $347但問題就0黎啦就在埋單時佢出左單我就俾恆生卡佢碌但係唔知點解佢碌完我張卡又出過張單9折左, 個service charge冇左但佢完全冇話我知!!!我仲要簽緊單時先見到怪怪的點解佢會變左只要俾$315以上呢但by that time已經寫左$35未寫0先發覺俾我簽單那人係門口serve人檯那個佢完全提都冇提我個銀碼變左反面仲遮遮掩掩張新發0既單結果我白白俾左$3

Went here for lunch with colleagues since they have not tried this restaurant. I have been to the one in Causeway Bay and in Jordan for many times. It was my first time here in Central. I found its décor was the best amongst the three outlets. Seemed that it maintained its former look (of course must have redecorated since its opening, otherwise, wont look so nice and clean now) and décor, so it presented a scent of elegance to its customers. Since it was the first time that they tried this restaurant, so they must try those popular items. So we ordered some stirred fried noodles with Swiss sauce, Swiss chicken wings, Chicken-a-la-king rice and a soufflé. It was a nice arrangement that those famous dishes were also available in the set menu. The set is at $88, and in terms of its quality and also the average food price in Central, the price was not too bad.

The vegetable soup we had was nice, with strong favour of tomato and hint of beef taste. The Swiss chicken wings were nice and they were very very tender and its sauce was quite nice and sweet and went well with steamed rice. Out of my expectation, the chicken-a-la-king rice was served with fried rice. The fried rice was nicely fried and so I had a sumptuous lunch.

They were all surprised when the soufflé arrived. It was hugh! It took 20 minutes for preparation and it was worth the wait. It was nicely baked and the soufflé was just so tender and light, you would certainly want some more! There was one occasion that I shared one soufflé with a friend, yes, it was just two of us having it. Imagine how full we were afterwards.

Tai Ping Koon is somewhere you could find consistent standards in ‘Chinese’ style Western food.

瑞士雞翼六隻剛好每一隻,以新鮮雞翼煮成的瑞士雞翼外表很飽滿,肥美外皮浸滿甜美的瑞士汁,甜甜的味道的確很好吃,很想來碗白飯淘汁來吃!! 雞翼煮得很嫩滑入味,瑞士雞翼的確名不虛傳,讚!!

乾炒牛河上桌時已香氣撲鼻,連侍應叔叔也說"香噴噴炒牛河到",真的沒說錯!! 河粉幼身軟滑,碟底沒有多餘油份,平時吃的炒牛河會覺很膩,這裡的沒有這情況!炒河應用上少量甜豉油來炒,味道帶點點甜,但沒有瑞士汁牛河那麼多汁,連內裡的菜心也清甜不已,真的相當好吃!! 朋友吃到牛肉很淋,也許有用梳打粉招呼過之故!! 平時不吃牛肉的壽星媽也不斷吃炒河粉!!

廚師沙律用料極為豐富,除一般沙律食材如蕃茄、青瓜、生菜、粟米之外,還有味道比平時好吃的洋火腿、很有蛋味的烚蛋、芝士和我喜愛的彈牙牛脷!!!配上沙律醬後,連本已很飽的各人也不斷在吃!!推介~~

焗豬扒飯顏色很深,跟快餐店那些偏橙的顏色很不一樣,墊底的蛋炒飯炒得很香,油份不太多,飯粒挺身相當好吃!豬扒炸過後仍有點濕潤,脆卜卜的外皮實在美味;最特別是那燒汁,濃甜味中帶點喼汁味道,跟普通的蕃茄汁是很不一樣的,另一款好吃推介!!

梳乎里真的很巨型,比BB的頭還大!! 侍應叔叔剛將梳乎里放在我面前,那陣蛋香和剛出爐的熱氣真的撲面而來!由於知道梳乎里必須快吃,拍完照後馬上用那對巨型餐具分給朋友們,雖說梳乎里是一陣風似的蛋白,原來第一刀切下它時是相當有彈力的,跟切一個軟綿綿的雪芳蛋糕很相似!!梳乎里面層較厚身,可以咀嚼一下;中間部份真的輕軟如風,舌頭輕輕一抹已經令其消失在口腔之內,但其甜香和輕軟質感真的不俗!!

自己點了用了鮮橙汁混梳打水的橙雜,味道香甜好飲!! 以前以為CEO的橙雜好飲,原來這裡的才是皇道!! 連小BB也對其很有興趣,不但飲了一些,連紅彤彤的車厘子也吃掉
朋友的跟餐飲品和單點的同樣飲品,份量真的有分別,這應該也是老店的一種特點。

以前看過不少對這間老店服務批評,今次托幾位壽星鴻福,幾位侍應叔叔也很友善有禮,所有要求也很快做到,離開時更加跟我們道別,今次的用餐經驗的確不錯!!

題外話:壽星們本以為那盤梳乎里已當是生日蛋糕,其實我已經安排了一個生日蛋糕秘密地運到店裡,看到她們的意外,真的有點成功感!這要謝謝網上蛋糕店的kenny先生幫忙才有這種效果!真的謝謝他的準時送貨服務和為大家泡製了這個漂亮又好吃的藍莓芝士蛋糕! thx thx!!
