Adhoc belated bday celebration with Y San dropping in from Tokyo. Originally brought a Krug but server noted apologetically that BYOB was not permitted.Ordered a bottle.Server then noted apologetically that there weren’t enough menus to go round. Finally got to order after a slight delay- the 6 Courses set for $1198 pp.Here’s what we had.Bread. Not bad. Uni on ToastPolmard Beef & Ebisu Winter Oyster Tartare. Came with 4 pieces of crackers. Uni on Toast
Polmard Beef & Ebisu Winter Oyster Tartare. Came with 4 pieces of crackers. Pleasant surprise- loved the combination of flavors.
Grilled Octopus with Fermented Bell Pepper & Sichuan Pepper Romanesco.
Caramelized White Onion & Watermelon. Since I didn’t take spicy, they left out the chili oil for mine.
Ocean Trout with Poached White Asparagus; Fruit Tomato Confit, Tarragon & Choron Sauce. Loved the trout. Spent some time discussing the difference between trout and salmon.
BBQ Quail on a bed of Green Peas and Bulgur (sort of rice substitute made of wheat). With watercress, Sansho Pepper, Amalfi Lemon and Ricotta Cheese
Lamb Leg with Chickpeas and Piquillo Pepper. Flavored with Cumin.
Bitter 70% Komele Chocolate Tart with
Cold Infused Arabica Coffee Ice - Cream & Cocoa Nibs. Very bitter indeed.
Swapped out the Matcha Tiramisu with the Chocolate Soufflé + Cacao Sorbet. Yum yum yum.
Nicely prepared by the staff.
In summary: wonderful night. Food was good; service was great.
