海鮮冷盤以及Ribeye steak

先黎海鮮冷盤 賣相未算吸引
有蠔 大小龍蝦 青口 帶子 蟹肉 及蝦
附有紅莓汁及沙律醬
冷盤食材必定新鮮 所以本人食用時未有沾上任何醬汁 以保持其原味
大小龍蝦肉質極為鮮甜 龍蝦膏並無任何腥味 上品
生蠔未有任何殻碎留於殼中
味道略帶淡奶味伴上海水鮮味 上品

首先要小一小openrice個app,打完一板野,禁左出去會乜都冇哂?搞乜春?係米感覺到劣評就打壓?話說小弟今日同女友食生日飯,食左龍蝦湯,凱撒沙律,和牛沙律,美國肉眼,同埋一支sparkling wine,點知食到反白眼🙄但哩間野嘅服務實在有好大嘅進步空間,第一,去到"知客",完全沈醉於聽電話之中,懶理客人企喺度等,第二,催3催4,感覺到10就收工,未食完都照收碟,玩老強,第三,碟就收得好積極,酒就唔願加,一支同散叫零分別,第四,收錢一句thank you 都冇,收完錢信用卡都唔比我就走,叫先由另一個人攞返嚟,自己就隔岸觀火,搞到我地好似只可遠觀不可褻玩,wtf, 所以哩間野,回頭機率係零!ZERO👎🏻仲有男廁會見到鬼妹屙尿,唔講以為自己去左老蘭🙄

Anyway, this post isn't about pasty white guys in pubs, it's about an Aussie in Honkers finally getting around to visiting an Aussie steakhouse.

Wooloomooloo is one of Sydney's most iconic inner city suburbs, the home of the rich and famous and just happens to be the name of a chain of steakhouses here in Hong Kong.

With a number of outlets across HK, Wooloomooloo caters to a range of diners, from their very cheap and cheerful Chop House (see post here), all the way to their fine dining establishment Wooloomooloo Prime. Our visit was to their mid range steakhouse, conveniently located just down the street from our new place in Wanchai.

Located on the 31st floor of the Hennessy, the Wooloomooloo Steakhouse at Wanchai has pretty much unrivalled views of Hong Kong. Exiting the lift and making our way to our table reconfirmed our view that we were living in one of the most spectacular cities on earth and our table had a jaw dropping vista of the many skyscrapers that make up Wanchai and Causeway Bay. Floor to ceiling windows helped provide a sense of space in the modern looking dining room that screamed Aussie Steakhouse.

We were given our menus by one of the many, many wait staff that were standing about just waiting for a busy Saturday night crowd to appear. The Woolommooloo menu was interesting, in that it was really much broader than you'd normally see in an Aussie steakhouse. Many options for soups and salads, along with a long list of starters ensured that there would be lots of options for those who were not purely there for steak (although why you'd go to a steak restaurant if you weren't a huge carnivore is a bit of a mystery to me)

What was most intriguing was the steak menu, which consisted of only a few prime cuts and a list of 'classic steak collection' items that included traditional favourites like Beef Wellington and Steak Dianne.

For those strange people that weren't there for steak, there were also plenty of fish options. But again, I ask - why go to a steak restaurant and order the fish!

Orders taken, we were presented with a huge cob loaf, very Australian, on a bread board with a tub of whipped butter. Man, that loaf of bread was fresh! So fresh that it was impossible to slice and as a consequence, we ended up with a couple of slices of crushed bread that was incredibly difficult to butter, even considering its soft and whipped state. Guys, my suggestion with bread that fresh is to slice it up for the diner - it would be a real value add!

The thing I remember most about our visit to the only other restaurant in the Wooloomooloo group was the pace in which the meal came out - it was literally the fastest three course meal we'd ever had.

It seemed as if we were in for a repeat experience with our starters arriving so quickly after ordering.

The girl ordered the Australian wagyu beef tenderloin carpaccio, which came presented in a pretty traditional manner, thinly sliced pieces of beef covered in shaved parmesan cheese, capers and rocket with a drizzle of olive oil to finish. The beef was very tender (although a little dry) and the salty capers really accentuated the beef flavour. I thought that there was perhaps a tad too much rocket and parmesan on the plate, detracting from the main ingredients but the girl seemed happy with the balance.

I was really conflicted about my choice of the sashimi grade tuna tartare with diced shallots, capers and wasabi mayonnaise. Looking quite spectacular on the plate, two tiers of tuna were separated by thin crispy wafers and the stacks sitting on a bed of wasabi mayonnaise. Colour was added with a smattering of bright orange salmon roe, giving the overall presentation of the plate quite a classy feel. My main issue with the dish was the balance, there was just too much of the tuna on the plate and the wasabi mayonnaise too overpowering. About halfway through the dish, the tuna seemed to 'dry out' and the heat from the wasabi seemed to accentuate the feeling. A little restraint would have really helped with this dish, just one layer of tuna would have been the right amount for a starter.

Eschewing from some of the fancier main options, we both opted for a very simple Australian Angus ten ounce filet minion (or as it's called in Australia, eye fillet). I have to say I was a little disappointed! The steak was presented simply on the plate with a béarnaise sauce on the side and it did look great on the plate and when I cut into my beef, it was cooked a perfect medium rare. But it was bland, really bland. It felt like it hadn't been seasoned properly during the preparation process, leaving a really 'flat' flavour that was missing that wonderful meaty flavour of a good steak. Not even an acceptable béarnaise sauce and plenty of extra salt could bring the beef back from the 'bland side'

We were both disappointed!

More so, I was shocked when I looked at my watch to see that only thirty minutes or so had passed since entering Wooloomooloo - it looked as if we were on track for a record breaking meal completion time!

Or at least we would have been if I hadn't ordered the souffle, which I knew had to take at least twenty minutes to prepare and cook.

I'd gone for the raspberry soufflé, normally one of my favourite flavours. After the right period of time, my souffle was presented unusually in a cast iron pot instead of the more customary ramekin and to be honest, it looked a little messy and hadn't risen evenly. The top of the dessert had a sprinkling of icing sugar, but it couldn't hide the fact that it was a little over cooked, with a thick 'skin' that proved difficult to cut through with my spoon. In fact, when I tried, the whole soufflé collapsed due to the fact it was undercooked inside! It was a shame because the flavour was nice, it was just poorly executed possibly due to not using a more traditional ramekin to allow a more even cooking.

While my dessert was more miss than hit, the girls pavlova was was superb. I mean, it just looked great on the plate! The mix of toasted sweet meringue and cream was balanced out with a passion fruit coulis that added bite to the sweetness. Strawberry and blueberry added contrasting flavours and lent an air of authenticity to the dessert - this was about as Australian as you could get and a real winner.

Thankfully our desserts had slowed down the meal, so it felt more like a dinner than a rush. We were able to watch the sun set from a spectacular location and slowly watch the lights of Wanchai take over the more natural light from the day. It was quite lovely really.

Service on the night was interesting. At times, there were so many staff about paying attention to us, it was a little over the top; at other times, we felt completely ignored. At one point I had to wait around ten minutes for someone to notice that my glass was empty and in need of refilling. Given our water was on a sideboard and out of reach, it was a detail that did irk me a little. It may have had something to do with how quickly the restaurant filled up though, but I really was thirsty during that time and I couldn't get anyone's attention.

Billed as an Australian Steakhouse, Wooloomooloo isn't really the type of steak joint you would find in Australia, but more a characterisation of what foreigners think an Aussie steakhouse should be. When I think back to my favourite steak restaurants in Australia, they are very different (see posts here for comparison).

Look, our visit to Wooloomooloo wasn't a disaster, there were some pretty good elements, but for me it just lacked consistency. The biggest issue though was the steak - ours were just not that tasty.

I'm actually keen to try out Wooloomooloo Prime, which is the group's premier restaurant. I've got to think that it's going to be great. I'm not sure what I'm basing that on after visiting the Chop House and Wooloomooloo Wanchai?

Maybe just the hope that an Aussie Steak joint in Honkers can remind me a little bit of home?!

第一次來這餐廳, 食客以外藉人士居多, 感覺相當高檔。餐廳在大樓的頂樓, 全是落地玻璃, 景色相當不錯, 可能我來到時窗邊位置已全滿, 未能一邊欣賞風景一邊据扒~Set lunch的價錢不算很貴, 在$150-$200之間, 我選了這份rip eye ($185). 最先會來一個又圓又大的餐包, 我們兩人來有一個餐包, 但看見鄰座的男士一人來, 也是一個餐包, 一個人怎能吃得完~餐飽沒有太大特別, 只是伴著的牛油可能加了黑松露, 令麵包立即變成美食。set lunch附有湯或沙律, 因我對紅菜頭湯沒興趣, 便選擇了沙律, 但不知沙律上白色一粒粒的是什麼, 吃不出味道, 亦沒有芝士味~肉眼扒不是很大塊, 亦不是很厚, 對於一位女士來說份量都算足夠。因我對西餐不是特別偏好, 所以眼前的肉眼是不是新鮮, 我都不太清楚 但醬汁是很好的, 味夠濃, 再加以香草焗的薯件及蕃茄, 整體算合格的後記~ 服務生的態度很殷勤的, 讚~~

这个名字就很澳洲土著风,自然主营也是澳洲牛肉了。Woolloomooloo是悉尼的一个海港区域,不过餐厅名少了个L。因此深究是没意义的。从网站资料来看,似乎这是一个香港本土的餐饮集团。除了Steakhouse以外还有一个Prime品牌,价格相对便宜一些。分店在全港也不算少,跟其他扒房比起来,这家店的扩张野心非常之大。吃吃君去过的这家在轩尼诗道The Hennessy31楼,可以俯瞰港岛的一部分(全都是街道和楼房,真无趣)。那是吃吃君来香港第一年(2013),因为本身也不是扒类狂,而香港值得一试的扒房又如此多,所以之后我就再未去过。湾仔店环境幽静;晚上光线有些暗,让人连食物都看不大清楚。吃吃君的挑头发神功都没法发挥作用了。不过光线暗也有好处,如果是商务饭局,那就不需要费力做表情了,反正没人看得清(当然没这么暗啦~)。吃吃君点了Filet & Crumbed Shrimp,牛肉五成熟还不错,但后来吃吃君不知为何习惯吃三成熟(medium rare)了-_-|||。总体而言肉还是不错的,前菜和汤也让人满意。甜点实在太过豪放,都是些比较传统的肥胖货色,法式炖蛋这种齁死人的东西,竟然还这么大份,

I came here with 3 other friends for dinner on Sunday night.I always order the grass fed fillet mignion in Singapore's wooloomooloo and decided on the same here. My friend ordered the ribeye instead. I also ordered a large glass of Riesling. The appetizer we shared was king prawns. it was tender and succulent and the sauce was perfect for dipping the bread in. I also tried a friend's salad which was fresh and nice too.The steak was good like how I wanted it to be. Medium rare, cooked on the outs

The appetizer we shared was king prawns. it was tender and succulent and the sauce was perfect for dipping the bread in. I also tried a friend's salad which was fresh and nice too.
The steak was good like how I wanted it to be. Medium rare, cooked on the outside but very juicy inside. The mustard sauce and mushroom sauce went perfectly well with it.
The Riesling was disappointing though. it wasn't sweet as I expected but tasted more like a sauvignon blanc.
I had a bite of my friend's ribeye and it was juicy and tasty too.
we also went for dessert. Brown chocolate cake, cream brulee and Apple crumble. Nothing to write home about but still good to finish the meal with.
The service was really good. Ambience was also worth the extra money you pay for the meal.
I'd definitely come back here be it a date or friend's gathering.

今日去咗一間西餐廳,點咗個三餸套餐。當中有頭盤、主菜及甜品。最先上係餐包,好香好軟易入口。加入牛油更好味。之後上咗個開胃頭盤,係蘋果肉同埋芝士包。個賣相好正。蘋果肉好爽口。芝士包好重肉味。好似食咗塊牛扒。主菜係海帶蝦仁寬條麵。個麵好彈牙。個帶子同蝦肉好嫩。屬上等食材。可惜個寬條麵好油利,食到我滿口肥油。杯熱奶茶我話明要 milk tea。 服務員給我的是好清淡味茶水,沖出來的 milk tea無茶味。最後個甜品係朱古加雪糕及慕絲蛋糕。兩者都好重黑朱古力味。好食。

Recently, I noticed on Openrice that the corkage fee was HKD250 so I brang a bottle and then was a bit surprised when I was announced that it was actually 300. I totally understand that the restaurant makes its own rules, and that it might have been changed, but when the waiter's manager came and proudly announced he didn't know what Openrice was (with a teasing smile), I was a bit astonished he could be so hypocritical.
A simple friendly talk would have been better than that (for me to keep a nice opinion of this place, and for the manager to know he has to update the corkage fee on Openrice).
But anyway, since they don't know about this great website, I guess they will never know that I was positively surprised when they immediately proposed to send back my overcooked steak to the kitchen and make a new one, medium-rare, as I asked at the beginning, in just 10 minutes.

香港餐厅周又来了。这家订了周末作为这一季的第一顿。地方有些偏,在湾仔附近的一栋商业楼的顶层,环境还不错,用酒塞摆成的一道墙很有feel。有维港的海景,不过玻璃窗不够大,view稍有阻挡。提前订了窗边的位子,刚好周末好天气,brunch就真是好心情了。朋友先到的,先点了气泡水和一杯红酒(他家的酒店颇为丰富,不过价格也颇贵,基本都是三位数一杯),我酒量不胜,而且下午还要做gym,还是喝水吧。餐厅周的menu198包4个course加饭后餐饮,颇为抵食(平时这里吃顿饭基本都要5百一千啊)。餐前面包是现烤的很大一个:很好吃,很有韧性又有浓浓的奶油味,不知不觉吃了不少。头盘有两款色拉,我要的是小菠菜色拉,菠菜很新鲜很嫩,不够调味不够,淡而无味,就当很健康的吃草。花椰菜奶油汤盛在小铁锅里一位位上的,暖暖的,不过还是一样的调味不太够,还好有胡椒粉补味。主菜偶们都要了出名的澳洲牛排,我要了3成熟,朋友要5成。卖相相当诱人,我的牛排其实已经4,5成,不够还算嫩,部分带到血丝的部分很嫩,朋友的5成明显有点overcooked了。牛排有四款sauce,我还是挑了最爱的芥黄酱。配菜的洋葱和薯饼都很好吃,这个主

甜品有草莓巴菲和芒果糯米饭,巴菲冻的太厉害,不过味道还是不错滴。芒果糯米饭口感很丰富,糯米饭很糯,就是分量实在太大了。
送的咖啡柠檬茶还不错。

Twice I've been here and both times on a Friday without reservation. This has not been a problem as they'll get you to wait at the rooftop bar which is no hardship at all. In fact I actually like this immensly. Food is good but each dish is a little pricey. Overall though it's a good place to visit. Although I'm a little cautious sharing this as I like the fact I can always get a seat there!

最後係餐廳的服務真係好,雖然有D Waiter都幾Green,但都好Pro, 仲有因為生日呢個係特別Occasion, 仲有即影即有拍照留念,整體上係好好既experience 呀!

過年前的中午食餐好的,是OL必不可少的吧╮(╯▽╰)╭ 忘了名字的包包很讚哦~外脆內軟,重點是蘑菇味的牛油很配哦~忘了名字的沙拉食過的朋友都明白~沒什麼好說的……登登登登~主菜來了忘了名字的牛排(^_^;)牛排煎得很香但裏面太「鞋」值得一讚是配牛排的source很香很滑哦~配菜還好,就是為什麼煙肉捲的不是露筍T_T感覺它們才是一對的~以食物質素而言,價錢有點貴,本來環境可以搭夠,但今天實在是太大霧了~>_<~

牛排煎得很香但裏面太「鞋」
值得一讚是配牛排的source很香很滑哦~

配菜還好,就是為什麼煙肉捲的不是露筍T_T
感覺它們才是一對的~

以食物質素而言,價錢有點貴,本來環境可以搭夠,但今天實在是太大霧了~>_<~

We ordered our food and the first they bring you regardless is a huge bread bun.The we had oour steak tartar which was the first time i have ever had raw beef before and must admit was ok tasty, there was alot of herbs and chilli to hide the fact that you were infact eating raw beef.Then we had our main, I ordered the beef wellington and my friend ordered the prime steak. The we had oour steak tartar which was the first time i have ever had raw beef before and must admit was ok tasty, there was alot of herbs and chilli to hide the fact that you were infact eating raw beef.
Then we had our main, I ordered the beef wellington and my friend ordered the prime steak. Mine was over cooked but very filling. The pastry was nice and well cooked. The steak was very tasty and cooked just right!
To finish off our meal, we tried the Napolean dessert. It was good and done prefectly.
We found that not all the staff could speak english since quite that there were so many caucasion ther but overall a good place to go if you can afford it!
