Especially now in the covid era, it is sometimes uncomfortable to dine out as you worry about safety and it takes away from the dining experience if you are worrying. But coming here, I immediately felt welcomed and forgot about the crap outside. The team was very friendly and was very helpful for our dinner as it was my first time. Food was generous and I didn’t feel rushed at all. A bit pricey but worth saving up for. Will be back again for another occasion.

Visited Osteria Marzia during Black Series and the overall experience was great. However, we were pretty disappointed with the food quality.The medium-rare beef sirloin was chewy and the portion of the steak was a joke - it was smaller than the palm of my hand! The seabream was cooked with two mussels (yes, only two!) and it was definitely overcooked. The cannoli was also very disappointing - we couldn't even finish it!That has been said - the service was great, but I won't be back anytime soon.

Osteria Marzia is a charming Italian restaurant located at The Fleming, a boutique hotel in Wanchai. It boasts a retro yet stylist interior and a vibe that reminds one of an intimate trattoria in coastal Italy. The menu here revolves around seafood, though there are beef and chicken dishes as well. We ordered two seasonal porcini-themed dishes (hirame carpaccio and grilled scallops), a Boston lobster chitarra, a seabass aqua pazza, grilled veggies, and a rum baba and hazelnut gelato as desserts.

All dishes were good, but highlight was definitely the signature seabass aqua pazza. They actually have an array of market fish & seafood to choose from, as well as different cooking styles/sauces. The seabass was $788 so a bit expensive, but it was large enough to share among 3-4 people. The fish was first grilled to perfection then simmered in a tomato-based broth with clams. The fish meat was juicy and fresh, with an intense yet delicate natural sweetness that was really quite impressive and which isn't always guaranteed even at high-end restaurants. I should also mention that they have really smooth freshly churned gelato that one wouldn't want to miss. It was a wholly enjoyable meal and we had a great time dining here. They are changing up the seasonal specials soon and we will be sure to revisit.

Less is more. As few ingredients as possible, matched and complimented by big, simple flavours. 

Because of this – and you must whisper this very quietly – the cuisines of coastal Italy wipe the floor with traditional French gastronomy. There is of course bad food in Italian seaside towns – in fact quite a lot – but they save that for the American (and now Chinese) tourists; who waddle pied piper fashion off cruise ships and into the first Romany pizza joint with a checked table cloth. The Italians hide the good stuff down dark Venetian alleys, in unassuming beachfront cafes and up long dusty tracks that have been the ruin of many a Ferragamo loafer. 

And the same is true in Hong Kong. Run by reluctant exiles from the old country, the very best Italian restaurants retain a low profile. These sweaty Gercepies turn out plate after plate, year after year. Fortunately, restaurants like Brata and Trattoria Caffe Monteverdi have remained decidedly off TimeOut lists and away from Susan Jung’s expense account. 

I’d also only really heard of Osteria Marzia via word of mouth. Friends have gushed about it’s fresh seafood since its opening in late 2017. 

However, Osteria Marzia is anything but inconspicuous. It’s design is pure Edward Hopper with atmosphere spilling out into the Wanchai street courtesy of three-quarter length windows. In a sea of grey concrete and foreboding flyovers, the restaurant flaunts the warmth of the Amalfi. 

The atmosphere intensifies as you walk through the door. A wave of sweet seafood from the morning’s catch (delivery) fills your nostrils and the sound of a Tuscan buxom beauties wailing unrequited love songs fills the air.

With negronis in hand we take our seat at the table. Before long we had a plate of warm bread, anchovies and good butter. The salty, saline punch from slithers of anchovy was revelatory. My only gripe was the scant portion size. Even with a meagre spread, two measly slithers of anchovy were no match for the generous bread.

We started with six unctuous Oysters which were served with a bucket red wine vinegar. The vinegar was finished with a fizzle of Prosecco, which caused the oyster to perform one final jittery death dance as she careered down your gullet.

Next, a plate of thinly slice sea bass was delivered with a flurry of showmanship and yet more Prosecco. The sparkling wine, lemon juice and pink rock salt were applied at the table, curing the delicate meat in front of our eyes. The result was such sweet pleasure, akin to eating the Little Mermaid. At $368 for a starter, the price is very punchy, but very worth it.

I once commented that the best hotel restaurants are not hotel restaurants, they are restaurants that happen to be in hotels. At the time, a newly opened Italian, Theo Minstal was very much the former. Osteria Marzia is very much the latter. You won’t be served anaemic bacon in the morning and you won’t have to watch grotty businessmen rub up against ladies of the night in the evening. Osteria Marzia is a proper restaurant that just happens to be on the ground floor of a very cool hotel. In fact, the only way you know you’re in a hotel is passing a stoney faced concierge on your way to the loo. 

Back to the food. A betting man would place his house on this Italians scoring a early wonder goal in the form of the pasta course – a beautiful Baggio-esk thirty-yard set piece. Unfortunately, we have Gary Linekar taking a dump in the centre circle at Italia ’90. Neither of the two dishes (red prawn tonarrelli and fennel-pistachio pesto) were particularly good. Neither had troubled a pot of bubbling water for anywhere near long enough (I, like any sane person like my pasta al dente, but this was simply undercooked). And neither sauce lived up to the billing of the ingredients. The sauce coating the hard raw dough of the Red Prawn Tonarrelli had a burnt metallic fishy taste that bordered on unpleasant. The pesto dish was better but still not good enough. It’s truly a testament to the quality of the other dishes and to the overall experience that the pasta didn’t ruin proceedings.

Redemption quickly came in the form of a whole roasted sea bass and a big slab of sirloin. Both were butch dishes of moist meat that tasted exactly as they should have done. Although, I would have liked a little more caper in the fish’s caper butter and a little more anchovy in the beef’s anchovy butter.

The side dishes packed more than enough flavour to compensate. Our broccoli had sticky garlicky spice, the squashed roast potato had a deep rosemary perfume and zucchini fritti tasted of spring harvest. 

But as much as flavour, it’s the experience you take away from Osteria Marzia. The whole experience is a blast. Our fresh off the boat antipodean waiter, Sebastian (who was fantastic all evening) encouraged and shared in lemonchello shots to round-off the meal. 

Where the Frenchman practice culinary appreciation, the Italian seek culinary joy. And Osteria Marzia is pure joy.

We were 2 persons going for lunch set menu. It consisted of a starter buffet for HKD 198 plus mandatory add ons for at least HKD 68The buffet is ok but not comparable with other Italian restaurants on HK island: mainly salads and when we were there hardly any ham, prosciutto or salami. Very disappointing.We selected chicken for "add on": it was just a small tiny chicken leg, which was dry, and some vegetable.We had also water and at the end we walked away disappointed, hungry and paid each over

NEVER AGAIN Marzia !
題外話/補充資料: Eat as much as you can from the starter buffet since the "main course" will be tiny.

Food was overall very nice and delicious. We liked the chicken, the sea bream and homemade pasta and even the desserts. But the managers and the staff were pushy to add to your tab. Pushing for more water, more wine and pour so aggressive to the point it became annoying. They also have a policy not to sit you until EVERY SINGLE ONE is here. Until then. Consume drinks at the bar. They were really insistent too. Make sire you get some cocktails, in a so called friendly way. Bill adds up to close t

The first thing you notice about this place is the decor. It's cute, its clean, it's inviting. Feels very spacious with the high ceilings. The seating is also comfortable as well so you can expect a nice relaxing ambiance when dining at this restaurant.We came here for lunch and there is no waiting time, I think mainly in part due to location and the price. During Lunch they offer a salad buffet for HK198 plus adds on from HK68 to HK88 for additional main courses which ranges from Pasta, Seafood

We came here for lunch and there is no waiting time, I think mainly in part due to location and the price. During Lunch they offer a salad buffet for HK198 plus adds on from HK68 to HK88 for additional main courses which ranges from Pasta, Seafood and Meats. 

The salad buffet is not the most extensive but has good quality ingredients but I would find it somewhat expensive for HK198. The portion sizes for the mains is small as well, you would think the salad buffet would either be cheaper with a bigger main for lunch or perhaps a more extensive buffet spread for the price they are charging.

The eggplant Parmesan was delicious. Soft and bursting with flavour. A good balance of tomato sauce and cheese. I could have eaten a much bigger portion....

The calamari was cooked perfectly. The breading was light and had a nice smoke to it giving it a light charred flavour. Definitely also could have had double the size portion as I could have eaten this all day long. 

Overall the main courses I had were delicious. The salad buffet was adequate but not worth HKD198. I am sure the food during the night would be of high standard as well but probably quite pricey. For simple Italian focusing on fresh ingredients then they do it very well. If the cost was reduced or mixed up the lunch buffet from its current concept then I would definitely come back more often, but for HKD300 there are plenty of other better options for lunch during the week. So I give it a thumbs up for taste but thumbs down for value.

I try to go as vegetarian as possible, but it is an absolute challenge not to have the fish when I am in Osteria Marzia. I have been here at least 4 times in the last 3 months, and each time I told myself I’ll just have a pasta or a side dish of vegetables, I ended up finishing half of every fish dish. I have tried at least 5 of their fish. Be it filet, raw (salad) or whole, each and every dish is made to perfection. The cooked ones are my favourite. The texture is soft, some of them even melts

The sauces are made of simple ingredients - olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, etc., and I don’t know how the chef did it, but each and every one of them are just perfect for the dish!

As with every dining experience, the service from the restaurant staff can make it or ruin it. At Osteria Marzia, each and every staff greets you with big smiles, and their knowledgeable recommendations on the food, the wine pairings, definitely elevates my experience. Special thanks to Elisha with her top-notch food recommendations. We practically inhaled every dish as soon as the plates touch the table. And her smiles definitely brightened up our night.

Kudos to the team at Osteria Marzia!

收藏了很久,第一次吃。謝斐道的入口進來,門口擺著當天新鮮的魚。整體裝修非常用心,當晚座了六七成,不吵不鬧,環境特別好!兩個人點了scallop,貌似輕炸過,本身口味一般,沾些盤子上的醬汁很好吃。seafood soup滿滿一罐,海鮮非常豐富,湯的質感相對濃厚一些,喜歡。red prawn chitarra,本來想選招牌的lobster chitarra,但是看到red prawn這個有chilli,就果斷選擇了這個。 醬汁微辣,味道非常的好,但是我覺得面的口感太硬了,下次問問看可不可以換一種面。tomato with basil,side dish,五顏六色的番茄,非常甜,對於喜歡番茄的我來講,滿分推薦! 當日新鮮的seabream,三種做法:grill,用fishstock蒸,然後就是pizzaiola番茄蒜汁的,我們選擇了最後一種。真的非常美味! passion fruit 冰沙搭配水果,清新爽口!不知道是我的錯覺,還是就是如此,他家的菜感覺特別容易涼,每道菜上來沒吃幾口就冷掉了。除此之外,口味、環境都很喜歡,服務也非常的好。 臨走的時候還給了我們兩支花,很溫馨,下次會再來。

不知道是我的錯覺,還是就是如此,他家的菜感覺特別容易涼,每道菜上來沒吃幾口就冷掉了。除此之外,口味、環境都很喜歡,服務也非常的好。

臨走的時候還給了我們兩支花,很溫馨,下次會再來。

因為 on diet , 所以點菜較節約,不算很飽,但差不多每個人$900,有點貴。但 be fair, 環境不錯,服務好, free flow sparking water. 整體海鮮香口,但要批評太咸,對食客健康不利。

餐廳位置係菲林明道尾,晚上環境比較靜。大玻璃窗的設計,感覺 modern 得來還很 classy。一進門,receptionist 已經熱情款待,朋友在 bar 飲 cocktail 等我,於事連人帶杯被帶到晚餐桌前。侍應們都很 energetic 和健談,手舞足蹈的介紹餐牌,朋友不吃牛,所以點了:Tuna Tartare 🐟- 好味,tuna 新鮮,味道調得好,celery + garlic 脆脆的增加了口感;Seared Scallop - 好大粒,煮到半熟剛剛好,鮮甜;Lobster Chitarra - in-house 自製新鮮 pasta,lobster 火候好又唔太鹹,好好味!Grilled Swordfish - 用檸檬汁、橄欖油 grill,swordfish 本身就彈彈牙質地不似魚,好得意,不過唔係人人都鍾意;Hazelnut chocolate mousse - 好 rich!Coffee gelato - 又香又滑!整體感覺食物、cocktail、環境、服務都好舒服,情調又好,一定會 encore。

是日午餐和太座來到這家灣仔新開張的Osteria Marzia吃午餐。這家餐廳在新裝修的The Fleming酒店地下。餐廳走意大利南部沿海菜的路線,餐廳,餐具碟和服務員的衣著均充滿海洋氣息。午餐是salad buffet, 另外可加主菜,主菜有pasta、牛排等等。 我們二人都吃salad buffet再加一份牛排。Salad buffet的食物新鮮,但款式種類不及附近類似食肆的選擇多。有凍肉盤芝士盆橄欖粟米蕃茄麵包及其他沙律菜等等。沙律菜是一整條的,有點難食用。沙律醬亦只有一款選擇 (vinegar),若能提供多幾款選擇,例如caesar, honey mustard,應該會更吸引。牛扒下單時點了medium rare, 但上菜變了medium well... 而且這麼一間餐廳居然沒有mustard...真的有點失望。 總括來說,跟同區近似的餐廳比較,這裡的食物選擇比較少,價錢比較高,午餐亦不包括咖啡,所以短時間內未必會再來。

午餐是salad buffet, 另外可加主菜,主菜有pasta、牛排等等。 我們二人都吃salad buffet再加一份牛排。

Salad buffet的食物新鮮,但款式種類不及附近類似食肆的選擇多。有凍肉盤芝士盆橄欖粟米蕃茄麵包及其他沙律菜等等。

沙律菜是一整條的,有點難食用。沙律醬亦只有一款選擇 (vinegar),若能提供多幾款選擇,例如caesar, honey mustard,應該會更吸引。

牛扒下單時點了medium rare, 但上菜變了medium well... 而且這麼一間餐廳居然沒有mustard...真的有點失望。

總括來說,跟同區近似的餐廳比較,這裡的食物選擇比較少,價錢比較高,午餐亦不包括咖啡,所以短時間內未必會再來。
