Chueca, located on Gough Street, is a new Spanish diner with a chic design. The restaurant has counter tables by the window panes, making it the perfect place for a chill meal. Not only is the interior photogenic, their food are very aesthetically pleasing as well. And to my amazement, they tasted nice too. The restaurant provides a variety of tapas and mains. Their signature dish has to be the Chef’s Rusa. Underneath the sea of sherry marinated ikura is a potato salad with mayonnaise and tuna.

The other tapas we ordered was the tuna tartare. They came in cute little cracker balls. They were stuffed with avocado mash, ikura and seaweed; and topped with tuna cubes.
For the mains, we ordered their slow cooked lamb shoulder. The shredded meat was rolled in with mojo verde sauce. It was slightly charred on the outside, making it crispy And crusty. The mojo verde sauce was also full of flavors with aromatic herbs.
The other main we tried is the chef’s canelon. It is a pasta roll stuffed with truffled meat, porcini mushroom and bechemal sauce, and of course, topped with shaved truffles. We enjoyed the al dente pasta sheet, and the prominent earthy umami from the porcini mushrooms. The truffles added extra tastiness with its distinct flavors.
On a side note, $20 is charged for unlimited filtered water. They do not provide tap water.
It was a wonderful dinner with nice food and chats while people watching from the window seats.
