A new burger place opened in my favorite area of Causeway Bay and I wanted to give it a try. I suggested this to boyfriend and he agreed to go along.The place isn't very big. On one side is the open kitchen where they only have two staff on hand.The other side is where you dine in.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. Boyfriend decided on the Sick! Pork ($62). Pulled pork with a pork patty, brandy, slice of melted cheddar, red onion relish and a mustard mayo. The bun was a nice soft buttery brioche which I liked. The patty was juicy and I did like the combination of flavours. The pulled pork was rolled in a lovely sweet savory sauce. My only complaint is there was the amount of pulled pork was miniscule. There just wasn't enough. We had to pull open the bun to see that it was there.
I had the Sick! Burger ($62) and added $10 for scrambled egg. This was an Angus beef patty with lettuce, plum jam, caramelized onion, onion relish, yuzu and a secret house sauce which tasted a bit like thousand island. The patty was well sesasoned and juicy. Everything held together well and I did like the fluffy scrambled egg so adding $10 is worth it. This was a really good burger!
For the combo we chose a Coleslaw Combo ($25). This was not very good. To me, this was not coleslaw. It tasted more like sauerkraut. Way too tart and it was mixed with sesame which made it even more odd. Definitely not coleslaw. It's not their fault actually. Hong Kong doesn't really know what coleslaw is. I have yet to encounter a place that serves it properly.
Onion Combo ($34) was our other combo choice. Coated in beer batter, this was a bit more thick and harder than the usual crisp light onion ring coating. They added sesame seeds which gave it a slight burnt taste. I don't mind it as much but I noticed a lot of people not finishing this item.
The burgers are definitely sick. Exactly what they call their restaurant. But I think I'd try the other sides next time. Food did come out a bit slow but they may still be working out their flow. Will be back.
