Sai Kung is a quite a journey for me, but anything for good food, eh?One place here I had to try was this infamous local “bor lor yau”- pineapple bun with a huge slab of butter. I have always loved bor lor yau so I was super excited to try this place! I have to say it did not disappoint! I was lucky enough to be there when they were having a new batch of buns coming out of the oven! (Or maybe their business is busy enough that they always have a new batch coming out?) We had to wait a bit for it

The temperature is an intricate balance here, a very hot pineapple bun that was just out of the oven, sat for a few minutes to set for the right texture. Then a cold slab of butter was inserted in the middle to let it melt into the bun, but not so completely melted, so you can still get a piece of butter in a bite with the bun. You can taste that fatty salted butter and it melts in your mouth. Heaven in my mouth!
If you are in the area, definitely a must try! If you are not a fan of eating slab of butter, you can just get the plain pineapple bun. The bun is actually quite good on its own!
