The Baker & The Bottleman is the newest bakery in town to rival the very popular Bakehouse. Run by Simon Rogan of Aulis and Roganic, this is his more casual bakery by day and wine bar by night. But due to current restrictions, it's take away only. The dine in area is not open. And the wine bar is not in service however they do have a section where they sell various bottles of wine. I thought Roganic was fabulous so I was very interested in buying some goods from here. When I arrived, I found it
I purchased two items. This is the Sausage Roll ($60). It was a bit pricey but it also was a decent size. Enough for a meal. The pastry was flakey and crispy. The sausage meat was really good. Lots of herbs and well seasoned. A pretty delicious sausage roll.
I alslo had a Caramelised Onion and Thyme Tart ($45). A lovely custardy center with sweet onions and a generous amount of thyme. The crust, however, was a sadly soggy.
The baked goods were quite good. Prices are not exactly cheap but the quality was good. Would definitely be back and try something else. Perhaps some bread next time.
