They say you outta try the basics out in order to tell if a bakery is good. I was tempted to try the fancier variations, however I made my mind up and had the most fundamental piece of butter croissant. Dined in, sat down, served hot, flaky outside, huge in size, fluffy inside. It’s essentially a very good piece of croissant. Every dimension was in balance, it’s nearly perfect, I wish they added more butter in the recipe (just my personal preference). The fish was dry, and the plate was excessively oily. All five of us had ordered the fish burger based on their servers’ strong recommendations, with one even claiming it was the best in the city. 上次去英國旅行的日子不經不覺已是六年前的事了,突然想起在約克群當地B字頭一間出名的英式餐廳。餐廳前是售賣各式各樣的麵包曲奇和糕餅,後面卻是一間英式的餐廳。格局甚似這店的,在灣仔喜帖街裡給我發現了一間 -The Baker & The Bottleman,地鋪是賣西式麵包而樓上一層是一間格調高貴,提供結合英國風味,烹製歐洲菜餚的餐廳。今天晚上,就與由英國回港探親的親人來這裡,給她比較一下英式餐廳在香港的出品。這餐廳出名的是西式麵包糕餅,看餐牌確能找到很多款加入了糕餅的烹調。見餐牌有小食 SNACKS 就點了兩款,先來的是松露布丁配黑啤及熟成巴馬臣芝士 - 這應該是店的signature 吧。松露布丁,以牛角包酥皮制作而成,保持外面微微脆口内裡是軟綿綿,而巴馬臣芝士刨得非常幼細,仿如一件藝術品出場,好吃也好打卡。黑豬肩胛肉風乾火腿就比較淡口一點,沒有千篇一律風乾火腿的咸香味道,但併上這店的麵包來吃也是另一種未嘗不可之品嚐火腿方法,不需紅酒也不需蜜瓜來陪伴。小碟 SMALL PLATES 點了番茄香辣豬肉醬與鯷魚多士。傳說中醃製過的鯷魚會有一股接近臭的味道,但卻沒有發生在這件美味上。Nduja 是一種辣味豬肉香腸,一片多士就吸收了這兩種食材帶出的油份,番茄的清新也有香濃的口感。醃漬鯖魚配大頭菜與蘋果金盞花,鲭魚醃漬過之後,完全是另一個感覺和口感,原來西式與日式醃漬的結果完全是兩回事,是另一種的味道。再將大頭菜與蘋果金盞花切成粒,微微酸酸的確開胃。煙燻鰻魚配辣根及意式豬油鬆餅,是另一款這店糕餅的配搭,鰻魚只是煙燻過仍處於白色的狀態,看餐牌還以為會以日式蒲燒鰻魚獻上,鳗魚襯鬆餅也是創新的組合,味道不錯。主菜我們二人選了炸魚漢堡配他他醬與酸瓜及紅列斯特芝士和烤豬排配焦烤蘋果泥與茄子。炸魚漢堡有吃英式炸魚薯條的快感,脆漿厚是英式炸魚的特色,上桌時仍保持香脆,原則上一杯啤酒伴吃,已是人生快樂事。烤豬排配焦烤蘋果泥與茄子,切成薄片上碟之烤過的豬扒與蘋果泥配搭在一起,蘋果香甜讓豬扒更加juicy入味。Desserts 甜品今晚點了Sticky toffee pudding 和焦糖布甸,兩款甜品的甜度各有不同,一啖微甜的和一啖稍為偏甜的互相配合,讓味蕾再度澎湃起來。這餐廳是由三星級米芝蓮廚師團隊親自主理,出品就無需置疑了,再加上餐廳開在灣仔鬧市貼近市民,推薦大家吃完他們駐名牛角飽之後更要上一層樓,試試他們的英式美食。Read More
