Went for the $1388 set, comprising appetizers, 9 cuts of beef, carbs and dessert. Some cuts of beef were akami wagyu, being leaner cuts of beef with even marbling.
Here’s what we had.

Wagyu sirloin yakisuki, served with Japanese egg yolk. Normally this item would appear near the end of the meal, but restaurant adopted a trendy approach by serving it first (like hip sushi joints serving toro first thing). Picky Eater wished it could come with a bite of rice as well.

Chateaubriand (thick cut of the tenderloin) served with apple onion sauce and truffle. Loved it. Thick but delicate.

A trio of sauce-grilled cuts (varies daily):
Tomosankaku (knuckle tri-tip- rare find),
Misuji (top blade) and Ichibo (fatty buttock/rump area). All 3 pieces were not fatty at all; flavorful with tender texture.

In summary: yakiniku experience that didn’t leave me feeling oily and fatty afterwards. Exceptional quality. Yakiniku fans must try.

Often I try to steer clear from the revered A5 Japanese wagyu beef as the marbled fat doesn’t really agree with me. But after a scrumptious lunch at Ushio, I may be duly converted! Often I try to steer clear from the revered A5 Japanese wagyu beef as the marbled fat doesn’t really agree with me. But after a scrumptious lunch at Ushio, I may be duly converted!

I was there for lunch. There are sets and a la carte options. The Wa had more beef and the Etsu had beef with some chicken/pork (perfectly sized portions too). We tried both.

The key was in the preparation. Firstly, the “beef master” head chef who hand butchered each piece was meticulous in his craft. Secondly, the staff knew exactly how much care and attention each piece required. And they took time to explain where exactly your morsel was coming from off of the cow.

The ambience was elegant yet functional. The staff were polite and helpful. A happy and satisfied customer indeed.

Can wait to try dinner!!!

位於中環威靈頓街(蘭桂坊附近),日本總部廚師直接來港駐守,點了兩款的Omakase套餐,食盡牛的不同部位,每種食法都有不同的味道效果,非常特別和美味。 還試了他們限量的日本清酒,很滑和柔順。 室內設計很有氣派,喜歡他們不同的小碟,很精緻,另外有包廂,還有衣服消毒衣櫃供客人使用。
