My family has been a fan of Matcha, knowing there's one Matcha Japanese café as selling point near my home, I purposely brought them to give a try. Seatings were limited and pretty close between each tables. Self- seating and returning food trays disciplining. It was a bit messy during busy hours as people stood beside waiting while you were consuming your food. Personally a bit uncomfortable for that. It will be appreciated if extra staff can help arranging the seats or queues at the entrance;

It was a bit messy during busy hours as people stood beside waiting while you were consuming your food. Personally a bit uncomfortable for that. It will be appreciated if extra staff can help arranging the seats or queues at the entrance; understanding it will be difficult for the manpower seeing the whole team was incredibly busy preparing food for the customers at the kitchen.
We ordered Matcha Latte Float with Matcha soft serve ice cream, Iced Matcha Lemonade, Egg in the Cloud, Salmon, Avocado, Mixed salad and Plain Croffle plate, Egg in the Cloud, Chicken, Avocado, Mixed salad and Plain Croffle plate and Salad of 2 choices: potato & sweet potato salad and mixed broccoli salad with wild wasabi dressing.
Matcha Latte Float definitely something satisfy Matcha fan. Matcha soft serve was more on an earthy Matcha side instead of sweet and milky. Ice cream served as ice that every sip until you finish it gave an intense matcha flavour. Pretty smart idea to avoid melty ice diluted the flavour. It was a vegetal, smooth and calming drink.
Matcha lemonade a bit letting me down. I was hoping to try out how matcha paired with lemonade. Sadly, all I could taste was very citrusy even I stirred well. Although the colour itself might give an impression of a strong matcha taste. Anyway, it was refreshing and cooling to drink in hot summer.
Egg in the Cloud, Salmon, Avocado, Mixed salad and Plain Croffle plate and Egg in the Cloud, Chicken, Avocado, Mixed salad and Plain Croffle plate were nothing special. Salmon was fatty and nice to pair with avocado slices. Avocado was creamy and ripe perfectly. Chicken slices were soft and cold in serve. Nothing special. Egg in the Cloud definitely gave a wow factor, but personally didn't like it much. It's sweet which oddly paired with savoury items and topped with a runny egg yolk. Even slightly torched the whipped egg white, it didn't give a smoky flavour. Not sure if the croffle was tough or because of the disposable wooden cutleries, it was difficult to fork in or cut it in pieces. Even bite it whole, it's difficult to make it a bite. It was buttery and not bad but it was placed on a saucy salad which again weird to taste buttery with salad dressing flavour. Mixed salad was alright and again a bit saucy.
Two choices salad was surprisingly in big portion. Potato & sweet potato salad was pretty nice and surprisingly perfectly match with sweet potato for some sweetness. I thought it's going to be heavy due to the amount of carbohydrates, it was easy to eat with the citrus creamy sauce. Nevertheless mixed broccoli were hard or again because of the wooden disposable cutleries, very difficult to fork in.I literally scoop the broccoli for every bite. In fact it was a bit hard for me. Wasabi dressing was quite unique lifting the whole salad up. Overall, not bad.
Cashier was friendly and patient on every customers in spite of the long queue and some customers encountered a lot of questions. Could see every station in the kitchen was working well and efficient, staff between staff communicating well that I barely see missing or wrong orders even in peak hours. Another appreciation was the kitchen was clean and tidy which was difficult to maintain during operation. Good job, Matcha Tokyo Tai Koo branch staff!!
