I was in Central with boyfriend to photograph this year's Chinese New Year decorations. When we arrived at Landmark, I saw a poster that said there was a temporary Amber pop up store where they were serving cakes and coffee/tea/hot chocolate and all proceeds would go to the Make a Wish foundation.When we arrived, most of the cakes were gone. I ordered a tart and a hot chocolate. My tart was placed in a white bag with a pretty tag on it.
This is a pear tart with hazelnuts ($30). The pate sucree was perfectly crumbly yet the whole tart didn't fall apart when I bit into it. The pear was a poached and wasn't too sweet. There was a small amount of creme patesserie to hold the pear in place. All was matched with chopped hazelnuts. An excellent combination. This was really REALLY good and I would have ordered another one but this was the last one.
For $15, you could order a drink. I ordered a hot chocolate. The staff told me the decoration was rose. Um...I guess if you squint. Like very hard squint. Anyways, the hot chocolate was ... weak. It was not chocolatey. It just tasted like watered down brown water. McDonald's served me better hot chocolate.
The tart was wonderful and I would go back to get more cakes before it ended. But I won't be ordering a drink next time. Just the cakes.
