Ever since there are few additions to the MTR stop on the western HK island, I have been coming to these area more often. Kennedy Town is an area where it was almost impossible for me to come last time, no matter how good the food it offers. Shinshu Japanese restaurant is located at the northern side of Kennedy Town, facing the sea harbor. It was a 10 minute walk from Kennedy Town MTR.Shinshu Japanese offers two types of set lunch: lunch omakase & lunch menu. Lunch omakase comes at a price of $3
Ark shell sashimi – It has a mild aroma and taste which slowly becomes more prominent as it is chewed. The flesh is soft and firm.
Mackerel sashimi – When I took a bite, it has a slight dry aftertaste, which does not really suit my palate.
Chu toro sashimi – It was fatty by nature, thus it was very creamy with a slight sweetness.
Amaebi sashimi – Texture of the small prawn was too soft for my liking. I prefer prawn to be chewy.
Scallop sashimi – Texture of scallop was almost similar to prawn. Sadly, it was also slightly soft. Good scallop should be chewy and firm. It taste sweet as well.
Hamachi sashimi – It has a buttery and creamy texture and is rich in flavour.
