Having walked past here many times - I was alway deterred by the PRICES written outside on the Specials Board..... things running in the $3X to $7X dollars. Knowing the norm in HK Yakitori shops, I thought these were prices for single skewers and it got me thinking - I probably need to spend $500 before I become full. Fortunately - one day I decided to give it a try anyway - and guess what, this shop was so HONEST and STUPID, the prices they advertise outside and on the menu inside is actually

Fortunately - one day I decided to give it a try anyway - and guess what, this shop was so HONEST and STUPID, the prices they advertise outside and on the menu inside is actually for 2 skewers! When every other shop in HK were advertising prices as single skewers. For example, the $40 for Beef Tongue is actually for 2 skewers - whereas Yakitoritei closer to Tin Hau Station is around $32 for 1 skewer.

Not only that - but despite the prices for 2 skewers - all of the items can be ordered as Single Items unlike its competitors, for half price.

Back to the food: Had Oysters, Chicken with Negi, Beef Tongue, Kurobuta, Stuff Chicken Wings with Cheese or Mentaiko, Chicken Skin, Saikyomiso Cod, Unagi, Mushrooms stuffed with Chicken Mince, Ginko Nuts, etc. All are recommended, which is rare.

If you want a bowl of rice, its only $8.0 and its bigger than average, with good quality, sticky, real short grain rice.Everything were better than average (although not exceptional) and not expensive. Much better than Yakitoritei in the same area by far.... Even get a small Japanese dessert for FREE as service afterwards.

The only gripe is that - both grilling chefs had different seasoning levels, so one was much saltier than the other - however staff will automatically ask if you're happy with the seasoning level anyway, which is great. Also, because here they use electric grills just like Yakitoritei, there is not much charcoal taste, although at least there is charred taste here compared to its rivals.

Apparently, the Japanese HK model Takuya Suzuki also likes eating here and you can see his signature. Having said that, this shop isn't as good as the real Yakitory shops in Japan unfortunately, but the low price makes it for it somehow.
