勝記 one of the two being awarded michelin star restaurant in Sai Kung district, serves traditional HK style seafood. The restaurant is quite a scale as it is an isolated two stories old style building.To be honest, it is a bit difficult to order seafood as it has so much variety. Also, the taste is relatively similar when comparing similar style restaurant. To make things simple since I am with my parents, we just ordered the set dinner for 4. It contains 6 dishes as you can check the menu.

To make things simple since I am with my parents, we just ordered the set dinner for 4. It contains 6 dishes as you can check the menu. One thing always strike my mind that for the HK style seafood, it is always preferable to order A la carte as for whatever reason, the food is better in A la carte. Well, for this time around, I can say it is almost as good for set dinner.
The most important aspect to judge is the ingredient and also the technique as the difference in food quality is quite a small margin. Take the sweet and sour pork ribs (菠蘿生炒骨) as example. We know what to expect but the difference between a great one vs a normal one is how much of a deep fried the ribs and the amount of sweetness. I believe 勝記 has done a very good job. The stirred fried razor clam is top notch as it is very tendered and the sauce is perfect. The deep fried abalone is not as tendered as I would expect.
Overall, we are quite satisfied about the food quality, but it is not out of the world quality though that will blow your mind. For me, it is a bit difficult to judge hk style seafood as we all pretty much know what we expect the food will be. What matter the most is consistency and price. I believe the price for this set dinner is reasonable.
