My colleagues and I decided to come to the Alchemist for lunch yesterday (5th July 2023) and we usually have a great experience, however, yesterday afternoon this was not the case.We (four of us) arrived at around 12:35pm. Two tables came in after us and sat to our left. We did take some time to order and placed our orders after theirs but we weren’t far off. We received our drinks and then one bowl of soup. We (four of us) arrived at around 12:35pm. Two tables came in after us and sat to our left. We did take some time to order and placed our orders after theirs but we weren’t far off. We received our drinks and then one bowl of soup. After about 7 minutes we were told that there was no soup left and would be getting 3 salads. Not a problem but I wanted to make sure that our mains were coming out too as we had a meeting to get back to. We watched as the tables next to us finished their mains and either left or were having dessert. Comes 1:15pm and we still had not received our food (After speaking to our waiter several times). We then asked for our food to be packed up as we would have no time to eat before our meeting. Then, the waiter gave us $200 worth of vouchers but I noticed that it could only be used for dinner. I explained that we do not live in this area and would not be here for dinner so it does not really compensate for us. Then, the manager came over and kept repeating that they don’t have lunch vouchers. But surely you could make this one exception?
We finally received our food now to-go at around 1:25pm and by the time we ate after our meeting the food was obviously not the same.
Very disappointed with this experience and the service that we received. We know that staff are lovely people as we come here often and it was out of their hands, but we felt that we had been treated unfairly and it could have been resolved in a better way.
