The basement of a hotel isn't exactly where you'd go looking for good dim sum but that's where we found one - at the basement of the Holiday Inn Golden Mile hotel. My mum and I were craving for some hargow (shrimp dumpling) and char sui pao (steamed bbq pork bun) so we went there for lunch on a Saturday and we weren't disappointed.I suppose being inside a hotel, it was only to be expected that the place was impeccably clean and the staff friendly, accommodating and fluent in English.I loved how w

I suppose being inside a hotel, it was only to be expected that the place was impeccably clean and the staff friendly, accommodating and fluent in English.
I loved how we got a table at a corner room in the restaurant and still received quick and efficient service from the staff. (The only reason I sometimes dislike little private rooms is because it sometimes get difficult to call for staff when you want something.)
We had calamari, char sui pao, sui mai, two orders of steamed hargow, two orders of fried hargow and cheong fan. Mmmm. I loved the both the fried and steamed hargow! The fried hargow was golden brown; with the wrapper very crisply done and the shrimp inside just rightly done and still very much juicy. The char sui pao wasn't the best bbq pork bun I've ever had but it was good enough for someone craving it. It would've been better had the bun been a tad bit softer, I think.
And because I have an FCC card, we got 30% off the bill.
