With the hot weather in Hong Kong, it is always safer to eat cooked food instead of raw sashimi. So today, we decided to have Teppanyaki , a Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. It is as authentic as having sashimi or sushi, giving a feeling of immersing in Japan. The restaurant we chose is in Tsim Sha Tsui. Looking at the menu, it is a lot cheaper to eat during lunchtime. We started off with the fresh salad filled with dragon fruit and yuzu sauce. Very appetising and great for summer as a starter.
The chef then made our teppanyaki in front of us, even if we are sitting this close, we weren’t affected by the hot smoke, that proves this restaurant is having a good ventilation system.
The vegetables were cooked with mouth watering seasoning. It is best to go with rice. The pepper scent it gives add flavour to the greenery.
I m not really a fan of beef but this restaurant caters for us, giving us a choice called Agu Porkloin. The pork was cooked like sirloin steak, with its thickness and flavour. Inside the Porkloin, it was very soft and it melts immediately in the mouth.
The teppanyaki rice goes with spring onion and egg. It has a delicious taste that you can eat it alone. The texture of the fried rice is just perfect, which is not sticky at all.
Finally, the dessert is a mochi with the wrap made with herbs. Inside the mochi, it is a fulfilling paste of red beans. Unlike western dessert which is usually too sweet, this Japanese dessert here is perfect for those who enjoy a lighter dessert with mild flavour.
