BEFORE the 4-person gathering protocol and when people still went out to eat, lunch caused us three OLs and OM to order one of each of the big tempura rice images on the menu: $138, $118 and $98. Overall I thought it was just so-so. There were crispy parts but I did not like how uncrispy (soggy) the rest of the tempura was because it was smothered in sauce. The sauce also dressed most of the rice and made it a little runny. I love sauce and I love soft foods but today I was looking for cronch cronch cronch. The tempura was also a bit overfried to my liking and I prefer a pale yellow batter than this one. The seasoning was fine.
Service is great, the venue is nice and I did not get that terrible fried food smell when I returned to the office.
Good for getting that fatty japanese rice bowl fix (like a glamorized beef bowl from Yoshinoya), but I did not find it profound or stunning as I found the tempura bowls in Japan. And literally you could walk into any tempura rice bowl shop in Japan and found the rice amazing.
