This area of Prince Edward has numerous dumpling shops. I have no idea why but they seem to all be within walking distance to each other. I was hungry so boyfriend and I went into the first one we came across. 美味餃子店 serves only three types of dumplings: chives, pork and cabbage and pork and jews ear. Menu is in Chinese only. It's located on the walls of the restaurant. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. Unlike most dumpling shops that have a lot of different combinations, this place only had three. You can also have them fried or in their signature fish and pork soup.
I had the chives and pork dumplings in soup. I didn't want noodles so ordered 10 dumplings ($50). The dumpling skin was a bit thick but it didn't feel too starchy. The filling wasn't a lot but it was a good balance of chives to pork and tasted pretty good.
The soup was their signature fish and pork soup. The soup was pretty good. Very savory but there was a hint of MSG detected.
Boyfriend had the dumplings fried and ordered 7. He chose two flavors: cabbage and pork and pork and jews ear ($49). I felt the combinations here weren't as good as the pork and chives. The cabbage wasn't that pronounced. I was, however, surprised that they weren't super oily despite being fried.
Dumplings were pretty tasty. The wrapping was a bit thick but then it held everything together well. Not expensive so might be back.
