With so many coffee shops in HK these days, the coffee scene has become super competitive. It's 2022, and everything is about the 'gram'. Just being 'Instagrammable' isn't enough to cut it. Therefore, first crack coffee was a pleasant surprise - in my opinion, they're one of the few cafes in Hong Kong with a truly unique selling point. Therefore, first crack coffee was a pleasant surprise - in my opinion, they're one of the few cafes in Hong Kong with a truly unique selling point. The staff had a nice chat with us and suggested we try some of their specialty drinks, and I'm really glad that we did!

We ordered an Espresso Soda ($55), Cane Sugar Cold Brew ($70), and a Honey Cold Brew Soda ($65).

The cane sugar in the cold brew is rather subtle, but you can taste it after a while when your taste buds have adjusted. Similarly, it takes a while for the honey flavour to come out in the cold brew soda.  All of the drinks were interesting, tasty, and refreshing. However, I do have to say they're a bit pricey.

It's clear that the staff and owner are passionate. They're passionate about combining interesting flavour combinations, such as Western and Asian elements. For example, the owner shared with us his thought process behind creating their'Herbal Jelly Affogato ($70). To be specific, they use 'Turtle Jelly' (龜苓膏). Immediately, I was intrigued and decided to give it a try.

My friends didn't seem to like it as much as I did, whereas I thought it was an interesting combo that worked. I happily finished the whole dessert by myself. But as someone who has a high threshold for TCM/bitterness, I thought it would've been even better if they used a more intense and bitter turtle jelly. The owner explained that he did experiment with different kinds of jelly but opted for a milder, more palatable turtle jelly in the end, and I get that!

I will definitely come back to try their other specialty drinks or any other interesting creations they might have in the future. They've definitely got my support!
