Despite many yakiniku places featuring wagyu beef had opened in the recent years, I would still come back to 298 from time to time as they offer the best value out of the yakiniku places I had tried.Beef quality is very good considering its price. I think the must-try would include the 牛小排 (I forgot the exact name, but they have 3 price ranges based on beef quality and I'd usually go for the mid-range price one). Beef quality is very good considering its price. I think the must-try would include the 牛小排 (I forgot the exact name, but they have 3 price ranges based on beef quality and I'd usually go for the mid-range price one). There was also one where they sear a big and thin slice of wagyu and dip it into egg yolk and wrap it around some rice, which was very tasty and yummy too.
For those of you who might fancy a thick cut, you could try the sirloin. Its quality is also decent.
I also loved their 298 signature salad, cheese pancake, seafood pancake and the kimchi tofu jigae.
In terms of service, the staff are usually very attentive.
If I must comment on the draw-back, I would say they don't have a big table which can seat 8-10 people. But you can always try to get their private room for a bigger party, though service charge is around $10k I think..
