At CAFE 100% in Laguna City, the HK$41 afternoon tea set sits before me - a study in contrasts captured in the harsh light of reality.

The miniature Hainanese Chicken Rice presents itself with minimal fanfare: thin slices of chicken paired with golden chunks of pineapple and scattered green onions atop white rice. The dark soy sauce, clearly visible in the image, indeed overwhelms the dish, seeping deep into the rice grains. The chicken portion is notably sparse, barely peeking out beneath the garnish.

The bowl of imitation shark's fin soup arrives in a stylish beige and blue ceramic pot, its dark broth thick with strands of fungus and egg wisps swimming in a savory sea. The soup actually appears more substantial than its companion dish, with a rich brown color suggesting proper seasoning and preparation.

While the photograph reveals careful plating and decent presentation, it also confirms the meager portion size of the chicken - a visual testament to my earlier assessment. The missing lemon in the supposed fresh-pressed beverage remains a point of contention.

For the price point, this set maintains its 3/5 rating - the presentation suggests care, but the execution, particularly with the chicken portion and overwhelming sauce, leaves much to be desired.
