My friend and I both have a sweet tooth and like soufflé so decided to give Phi a try.We arrived around 2.15 pm on a Sunday and waited for 10 minutes until we got seated at a spacious booth.We ordered two soufflés: the seasonal special tangerine and the matcha red bean. Eggslut was a half cooked egg sitting on top of some potato mash. It wasn’t hot, but warm. Wasn’t flavourful and quite small. Not sure what to think of this snack.
For the soufflés:
The tangerine soufflé was very disappointing. First off, the “tangerine” was actually sour orange slices. The soufflé were all stuck together when trying to pile them apart. I would say only the sauce was somewhat interesting.
The matcha red bean soufflé was no good. Elements were missing from the dish when compared to the photo in the menu. The staff attitude were poor when my friend asked if there were elements missing. We were criticised for asking. I had looked at photos of the green tea soufflé after we visited and all elements were on the plate. I think we were very unlucky that day.
The service is quite poor since it was very hard to get the attention of staff to ask for extra plates, cutlery, more water, ordering etc. We pondered if they were all temp staff.
Overall, it’s not worth it. With this price and service, I recommend to go elsewhere to try soufflés.
