It's been a while since I've seen boyfriend's mother had been to my side of the city so after a bit of shopping, we went to the Tin Hau area for something casual to eat. This is were we noticed 味滿 (English name: Full Taste). It was new and served congee and noodles. They have a variety of items commonly found in most congee noodle shops along with an all day set where you can order any noodle or congee and add on items for a more discounted price. We decided to do that with additonal add ons to share.
We chose drinks and decided on Soymilk ($10) which was actually really good. Lots of strong soybean flavour.
Braised Black Mushroom in Oyster Sauce ($25) was a generous portion of shitake mushrooms that were large and thick in size. A good meaty bite braised well in the oyster sauce.
The Steamed Rice Flour Roll with Crispy Fried Dough ($26) were still crispy and the rice roll was smooth and thin. They provided sweet soy sauce, peanut sauce and hoisin sauce for dipping.
Deep Fried Dace Fishball ($32) was my favorite of everything we ordered. The ball was crisp on the outside yet still bouncy in texture. The best part? I detected not small bones. Though the bones are edible, not many places take the time to take them out. Loved this and made for a much more pleasant eating experience. The oyster dipping sauce was not too salty but briney enough.
Braised Beef Brisket Tossed Noodle ($50) was served with a little piece of lettuce. The brisket was tender and melt in your mouth. The sauce was so thick, it was almost gelatinous. So gelatinous, it was like I had a layer of lip gloss after eating. But this thick sauce helped coat the tossed noodles perfectly. Every strand was coated so not one drop was missed. The noodles themselves were still al dente with not starchy aftertaste. It came with a soup to make it all not feel too dry.
Plain Pork and Vegetable Wonton in Soup ($38) was fairly large in size. The meat was juicy with a good ratio of vegetable to pork. The wrapping was thin and didn't break apart. It came in a soup that had a distinct fish shrimp base.
Grass Carp Belly Congee ($50) was what drew us to go in. The rice had been cooked so long, it was smooth and creamy. It wasn't too salty as well and was flavoured with the taste of the fish.
The fish was a large size so we had to divide it up afterwards. The meat was slippery yet firm. Not too many small bones as well.
There aren't too many congee noodle places in this area so this is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Place is clean and will be back if I'm in the mood for congee.
