Finally got to try their famous Mandarin Chicken Rice and I also ordered their Coconut Ice Cream in Young Coconut Shell. For the Mandarin Chicken Rice, the chicken was tender and the amount of chicken served was definitely more than the usual chicken rice I have For the rice, it was less oily than most restaurants which I prefer though the aroma was definitely less strong. I understand some people prefer the oily type so I think this is a personal preference.However, the soup was a bit bland. I think they should try to improve the soup a bit or just cut it out as this was definitely the weak link of the meal.If I only tried the Mandarin Chicken Rice, I would have given this an OK review but the dessert definitely improved the overall rating. First I appreciate how they use a bowl of ice to secure the shell, which allowed the ice cream to remain cold and melt slowly. Each bite of the coconut ice cream had plenty of coconut flesh and it was not too sweet. The walnuts also tasted great with the ice cream. This Singaporean restaurant having many choices and you can easily get somethings you likee, the decoration is so stylish and giving you a holiday mood yayaOrdered the signature dish Mandarin Chicken Rice, the chicken indeed good with tender and soft texture, good dipping with ginger sauce yaya, but i’d say the rice can be better not oily enough actually, just feeling ok, chicken soup not having strong flavor though i like tender tofu haHainanese Pork Chop with fragrant rice having yummy homemade fruit sauce so lovely and good for mixing with rice haa and fried pork chop is well cooked with crispy layers, and you just wanna get more pork chops if i can haaaChar Kway Teow, wok fried rice noodles with prawn and scallop, would be better if adding more seafood lolll, the rice noodles having good taste like dry fried beef noodles, nice choiceTraditional Kaya Toast and Ice Cream, come out surprisingly loll that thin toast layer surprised me so much cause i didn’t expect like this, which I tried in Singapore having much bigger one. If you haven't been to the Chattebox in Singapore, this is the closet you can get in Hong Kong.  The restaurant design is welcoming and staff are friendly.The chicken rice didn't have the 'wow' effect but definitely tasty and worth the price.The soup of the king prawn laksa was so concentrated and super tasty.  Thought it could be better if there's more soup as the noodle soaks it up pretty fast.  On the plus side, the 3 giant king prawns do make it up for the lack of soup.The pan-fried carrot cake was chopped into tiny pieces which I hope they could be bigger.…查看更多

Having opened their doors at Mandarin Orchard Singapore since 1971, Chatterbox Cafe is considered to be the ancestor of Hainanese chicken rice As the restaurant was quite empty when we had dinner, the legendary mandarin chicken rice arrived quite fast. The portion was quite generous, but I guess that’s why they are charging over $100 (probably the priciest I have ever had)The boiled boneless chicken was quite lean yet tender, which went well with the fragrant rice and refreshing sides of lettuce, cucumber and cherry tomato. Being a picky eater, I only dipped the dark soy sauce (you can’t go wrong with that), so I didn’t touch the homemade chilli nor the ginger. However, the real highlight was the chicken soup, which kind of reminded me of miso soup with the dried scallions and tofu.
