My wife and I went to Amaroni's with friends for a leaving do on a Saturday morning in November last year. We had a lovely time and the food was terrific- as I remembered it from when we'd last been to Amaroni's 15 years ago. With fond memories in mind I met a friend for lunch on 25 May 2021. With fond memories in mind I met a friend for lunch on 25 May 2021.
It was awful.
Four things were problematic - 1) staff speak very poor English and avoid you, 2) the picture book lunch menu is confusing, 3) the main course salad with chicken was little more than four strips of chicken and lots of iceburg lettuce and 4) the main course seafood linguini tasted more like a pestoy laksa than an Italian dish. Service was slow and dishes arrived in the hands of a young man in gloves who plonked them down without stopping. The bill took ages to arrive.
To put it nicely, Amaroni's is a lunchtime noodle shop posing as a sophisticated Italian. if you want a lunch time noodle shop then go to a proper one.
