Having some extended family in Singapore and travelling there quite often, I have grown to appreciate their food and just recently coming back from a trip there, I found myself craving for some Laksa. Katong Laksa Prong Mee definitley satisfied my need in the form of a rich prawn laksa that's available as part of their lunch set. The noodles this time were a tad overcooked and broke easily but the soup and the toppings more than made up for it. The egg, especially the egg yolk combined with the rich creamy broth was amazing. More importantly, the fried tofu soaks up all the broth making for an amazing combination. The lunch set comes with a drink which I ordered ice coffee which was so so. I have also ordered the bak kut teh (braised ribs), due to the fact that the broth was not srong enough and the ribs did not have that right amount of firmness as it broke apart too fast, and as such i have been sticking with the laksa during each visit. This place gets insanely crowded during lunchtime as it's located in the heart of Sheung Wan so make sure to get there early. Not many seats but seems like customers eat pretty quickly so the turnover is pretty fast. Waiters are very friendly and food is served pretty quickly. Definitley recommend this place if you need a quick Singaporean fix.
