There are jelly candies and then there is Sugarfina. Sugarfina, from the US, is a luxury candy shop. Or boutique as thy like to call it. With shops throughout the US , they now have a shop in Hong Kong's Harbour City. Selling their jelly candies, chocolates and bonbons in super pretty transparent cubes and placed in a pastel blue bag that reminds one of Tiffany's. And they definitely are not cheap. For the Christmas season, they have a series of candies that are focused on the characters from Sanrio.
They have not only jelly candies but chocolate balls as well. All inspired by the characters. You can buy one square individually or you can purchase a gift set with a pretty box for even more money. Yes, we are no longer in Haribo country anymore.
Due to the fact I've collected a certain amount of reward points from a Hong Kong Telecom, I could exchange it for one Hello Kitty box gift box from here. Heading over, I picked up the box from the store.
The two cubes were placed inside Hello Kitty's red ribbon gift box. Toy not included. Price: $228.
Each cube is approximately 100 g of candy.
One of them were white and pink jelly candies shaped like Hello Kitty's face. They called this one Mama's Apple Pie Gummies. Did they taste like apple pie? Not really. The pink one had a bit of apple flavor. The white was just well ... the same. Texture was ok. A bit on the chewy side.
The other cube was a whole bunch of red bows. The iconic bow found on Hello Kitty's head. They called this one Bow Gummies. They tasted like strawberries. Again a bit on the chewy side.
I've had luxury gummies that were a lot more softer, juicier and more packed with flavor. So, to charge such an expensive price for something that tastes a bit like Haribo, I don't think it's value for money. Glad I had a voucher for a free one otherwise ...I don't think I'd buy another cube. I'd rather spend my $88 on an actual meal than a few jelly candies.
