Have been to the Grill for a few times so mom decided to try another buffet at Grand Hyatt. She made reservation a week beforehand and the lady reminded her that they are doing a French theme right now , but they aren't sure whether they will provide roast beef or lamb rack until the day which caused a bit of a problem for us as my parents do not have beef (although they ended up serving both on the night )I went there to join my family for dinner around 7:30 and surprisingly, the restaurant is
I went there to join my family for dinner around 7:30 and surprisingly, the restaurant is only around 20% seated. Didn't care a lot and went of the food. I would say there is a limited choice of food (except of desserts) but the quality is very good. I had prawns (average), smoked salmon (so so), lobsters (very good) and some salad(average) as cold dish....
I didn't have many main dishes...just tried the lamb rack and it was done pretty good. I then quickly when to desserts, and I was attracted by all different kinds of desserts and the ice cream bar but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Tried many desserts...blueberry cheesecake (ok), apple crumble (too soar even with vanilla ice cream), apple tart (nice one), macaroons (so so...depending on which flavor), waffle with raspberry ice cream and chocolate sauce (best part of the dessert...but a bit common thing though)
Similar to the service at the Grill, people here came over quickly when you try to make a request and take away the empty plates quickly.
I won't say the food is superb but good enough for a buffet...although some people may find it too little choices (but I like it as I am the kind of person who skips the main dishes). Paid the bill with platinum AE credit card so had a discount and around 650 per person, which is lower than I expected given it's Grand Hyatt.
