attracted by a lot of ads on social media, my friend and i booked a table for lunch. the restaurant looked rly fancy, giving a vintage diner vibe. we had high expectations for this place because of all the overflowing posts about it and the hype lately. food was alright overall, generous portion, sufficient options, yet disappointing service. actually most staff members were ok, but one was ruined our experience there.since i had some sudden changes of plans in the morning, i tried to modify my

since i had some sudden changes of plans in the morning, i tried to modify my booking by pushing back our reservation by an hour. i clicked into the link but it says we couldn’t modify online but we could only call directly. well so we called, for over 20 times by my friend and i separately at different time intervals. the call didn’t get through, so we emailed them and also sent them a dm on ig. again, no replies. we just wanted to notify the restaurant about our changes and to check whether they could accommodate our later time slot. yet, no replies via any sorta platforms were received.
once we got there, we politely told the lady at the front desk about our situation and her response was “so what do u want now?” wow that’s the most mind-blowing question i could hear from a restaurant. i asked calmly, “just wondering if there’s a table available now?” she said “you have to order immediately though” then walked us to a table at a corner. wow again such a demand from this front desk lady. extremely unwelcoming. honestly by then this place already left a terrible impression on me. her service was truly questionable.
seeing that most tables were empty anyways, we asked another staff lady (a hk lady i believe) whether we could have a more photographic and comfortable spot. she promptly replied sure with a smile. only after 50% of our dining experience that we finally felt the service was normal to decent. another white man was also kind since he actively asked whether we wanted a picture. the kind lady asked what knife numbers did we pick and we were like what numbers? she looked really surprised that no one brought us over to the knife picking area beforehand. not only her, but i was also very confused.
overall food was great and the dessert was such a highlight, very refreshing and creamy, but that particular staff member honestly pulled down our whole dining experience by a mile. would not revisit anytime soon.
