Palco Ristorante is located at Harbour City. It boasts a unrivaled view of the iconic Hong Kong skyline. The interior adopted a minimalistic and chic design, giving off a sassy, clean and luxurious vibe, while the spacious terrace is wonderful for some chill and relaxing get-togethers. Their lunch sets, priced at $328 for two courses and $398 for three courses, are of amazing value given its environment, services and quality of food. We were particularly impressed with their appetizers. Credits
Their lunch sets, priced at $328 for two courses and $398 for three courses, are of amazing value given its environment, services and quality of food. We were particularly impressed with their appetizers. Credits also have to be given to their aesthetically pleasing presentation of dishes and selection of tableware.
Appetizers:
1. Clams with Seafood Sauce
The type of clams used was 花蛤. This type of clam has very plump and succulent meat, and usually contains much less sand than normal clams. They taste less briny but are also much sweeter. The seafood sauce base was really refreshing with some tanginess to it. It was very appetizing and delicious.
This dish was presented very nicely in a plate with scallop patterns, and topped with a pretty little floral decoration. The tuna itself was fresh in taste and tender in texture, but what surprised us most was the sauce. The kick from the Wasabi definitely stimulated our taste buds and appetite.
The foie gras terrine was extremely smooth and creamy to the palate, and gave an intense burst of umami. The chef was very clever in balancing the richness and heaviness from foie gras with an acidic element. The pineapple puree provided a nice cleanse to out palate.
Being an Italian restaurant, we also had high expectations on their pastas. Yet, compared to the appetizers, the mains were a little underwhelming.
1. Spaghetti with Shrimp in Kale Pesto
The shrimp was cooked to perfection with an opaque pink sheen to it with a firm texture. However, the pesto sauce was not very flavorful itself. The pasta was also not as al dente and chewy as I expected.
Again, the pasta was a little mushy, and lacked that bite to it. The sauce was also very bland that we had to ask for salt and pepper.
This dish was comparatively a better one than the other mains we had. We loved the smoky grill flavors and the tenderness of the meat. The lamb was also full of flavors from the herbs and maple syrup.
The dessert of the day was Cheese Cake. We loved the smoothness and creaminess of it.
