This cafe has caught my attention recently as it ranks top in last month's restaurant list, together with a lot of "smiles" from food critics and a decent number of nice photography of their products. I planned to visit this new blooming patisserie this weekend for take-away. I am really looking forward to eating their products as I couldn't envisage myself being fooled by all these positive reviews. However, I am utterly disappointed. As I was planning to arrive late in the evening on Saturday,
As I was planning to arrive late in the evening on Saturday, I called them up on Thursday and wished they could reserve some item for me.
The lady who picked up the call tried to be nice and said I had to pay deposit in person or do credit card payment by phone. Honestly speaking, I do not have confidence in spelling my credit card number to her on phone and I asked her if I could do ATM transfer (since I don't have time to go there to make a deposit). She told me that their office is in Kowloon Bay and it will be administratively and logistically hard for them to confirm the payment. I totally understand that why they need me to pay first because some customers might not turn up in the end after making phone orders. However, I just can't accept the tone and level of politeness of that lady who is like blaming you and find you annoying that you could not pay a visit to pay the deposit. Speaking of phone order, I think Mandarin Oriental Hotel does it nicely. I reserved a few pastries. a salad and a sandwich a month ago. All I need to do is to give them my contact number and that's it.
I called on Friday again and was finally "unwillingly" to give my credit card number to her on phone. I am not sure if it is a connection problem but she just speaks loudly and very impolitely. I seriously do not expect such kind of service level given that this patisserie has an increasing number of positive reviews. It is very disappointing that discrepancies exist between food quality and service quality. Later at night, I talked to a man who could speak cantonese. His tone is slightly better than his female colleague but still needs a lot of improvement. In the end, I did not order anything. I'd better give my money to, maybe, the Petit Cafe, Mandarin Oriental, Simply Life...just NOT this one.
I registered this account for a long time and I rarely write. This time, I hope you can feel my urge to write this review.
