We had a great time last night at Sahara.
I had made a reservation a few days earlier, but when we arrived at 7pm, the place was completely empty. We were greeted by the Manager (I assume) at the door - very nice touch. We had two little round tables; two of us were sitting on the sofa and the other two on little back-less sofa stools (which were apparently not that comfortable, and quite low ... one of us is quite tall, and moved to the sofa after a minute on the stool).
There was a good choice of appetizers on the menu and plenty of entrees. We shared the Mezze platter, which had really excellent falafel, hummus, sausages, etc. (I especially loved the sweet salad dressing), and the fig salad, which was quite divine. We each ordered a main dish, which was in essence too much food. Shrimp tagine and lamb tagine were both really yummy, with plenty of delicious sauce, some veggies, and a good number of pieces of shrimp/meat inside. Couscous Sahara had different kinds of meat, which was excellent - tender, flavorful, juicy. Lamb Kebobs: very nice meat, with some really tasty mint yoghurt sauce and some veggies on the side. And the couscous was simply perfect: fluffy and tasty, with raisins. Yum!
We started out with a bottle of New Zealand Pinot Noir, and although the manager exclaimed that this was an excellent choice, the wine was quite mediocre. We then switched to a Merlot (don't remember where it was from) which was much better. After dinner, we did not order dessert, but we got shot glasses of some kind of alcohol - not sure what it was, but it was tasty and not too strong.
The restaurant got ever more crowded while we were there (a bit more than 2 hours probably), and although it got much noisier, the noise wasn't so that you couldn't talk anymore. The decorations (lots of colorful brass and glass lamps, cushions), the subdued light and the Middle Eastern music all made for a casual and laid-back atmosphere that we found very enjoyable. We sat without food after dinner for more than half an hour, but they did not kick us out even though people were waiting outside (yes, we left eventually ... sorry to make you wait, guys. ;-) ).

We liked: the food, and the atmosphere.
We did not like so much: the wine list (not so many good things on there, and too few nice things with decent prices), the stools, and the fact that one couple next to us on the sofa took up so much space that we were uncomfortably close until they moved away a little bit. Well, the place is quite narrow - I suppose the coziness goes hand in hand with a little bit of crampedness.

Overall, this is a place that we'll go back to. Very good food, decent prices (though not cheap), and a nice atmosphere.
