As with all places which have acquired a reputation this place suffers somewhat from its own success. It presents itself as a coffee shop for coffee enthusiasts and although I am not a connoisseur it is indeed noticeable that the coffee is a cut above most offered in Hong Kong. I ordered a flat white with the more 'nutty' (as opposed to 'fruity') kind of espresso shot. I ordered a flat white with the more 'nutty' (as opposed to 'fruity') kind of espresso shot. It had depth and a very satisfying flavour and the feel of the cup it was served in was also rather pleasing. As I was visiting for a late breakfast I ordered the beans on toast (seriously, why don't more places offer this in Hong Kong - I know it's very easy to do at home but for places with no vegetarian breakfast option this would easily fill the gap). It was ok but nothing to write home about, I know it's only beans on toast but considering how much care they give to the coffee you'd think they might be able to provide a little more than limp white bread and plastic cheese. The salad leaves were nice and fresh and had a good amount of dressing but some butter on the toast would have been welcome.

Back to what I was saying about this place suffering from its own success...by noon on Sunday this small shop had a constant and unsettling group of chair-vultures huddled in the small space just inside the door (the cafe doesn't really have any standing room). This is always somewhat uncomfortable as you can feel eyes burning into you whilst you're attempting to eat. Couple that with the fact that the baristas pass coffee over and around people who are trying to eat at the bar (again because there is no space - although maybe it would be better to reserve one-seats worth of space for the service of food and drinks) and some people practising rather poor parenting and you lose the coffee-loving atmosphere and it just becomes any other place in Mong Kok.

Go for the coffee but avoid weekends and evenings.
