Put it rather dramatically, this restauant was something like a light house, which I would search for to navigate in the nieghborhood. Stoop up on high among other high-rises in Wan Chai, The Grand Buffet was covered with mystery. The place is known for the extraordinary scenary on top, viewable in 360 degrees with full windows and itself - the restaurant - rotating while you sit and dine.

We visit here for the lunch buffet. Unlike its unapproachable look, it is very conveniently located in the Hopewell Center, by the end of the Lee Tung Avenue. From then, we followed the the signs, and had to change the lift for twice or so, to finally reach to 62nd floor.

Unlike what I originally thought - the whole head of the building rotating - it turned out that only the inner circle inside the building rotating. Having left my belonging on the bar, I later found out the thing has already rotated to another table
My experience with the rotation was okay, not as dizzy, but still quite noticeable. I can still feel the rotation and as the time pass by, I became more conscious of it. The view was one of the best, in that you can see the mountain, sea and the city; the Island and Kowloon’s landscape all at once.

For each of us, we were served with special drink. I chose milk tea.

The salads were nice and they had rich seasonings.

The seafood section was disappointing and it did not look as fresh. It was not so appetizing.

I liked their meat and poultry, whereby the chicken and Char Siu were very juicy, drizzling with oil and honey- in a delicious sense.

Dim sum was another of their expertise. They were supplied in small portion in small quantity. I was not able to get it in my first round, but in my next round, I got the freshly made one. This Shumai was like a bomb. Once bite in, you will get all the juices from the crunched shrimp mingling with the tangy crab roe. I also got the Har gao, and it was another sensational experience.

At last we got lots of desserts, but after all, they were not particularly special. It tasted okay. They had chocolate fondue, so we dipped some marshmallows too.

Overall, I was not impressed with the quality or the variety of food. It is edible, but not so appetizing. The best part would be the Cantonese cuisine with fat and fresh Dim sums and Siu Mei. If I were to visit again, it would be for the view and these Hong Kong dishes.
