Dinner. There were actually 2 sections in the restaurant - the outside section u needed to DIY, the inside section served a more expensive set ($1280 pp) with a bar area that had the chef doing the work for u. Since I booked through OpenRice, no such choice was available. Picky eater was very disappointed when we arrived that we only got to sit on the outside ($880 pp); inside was full of course. They actually served some by the glass which wasn’t on the menu. Manager just said it’s nice Italian.
They actually served some by the glass which wasn’t on the menu. Manager just said it’s nice Italian. Didn’t know the price but I ordered a glass anyway. (It was actually quite good.)
Smoked beef came first, well presented in those glass covers. Server added a blob of caviar on each of our dish. Caviar looked better in the pix of my friend who tried the $1280 menu.
Tomato came next, very sweet snd refreshing with the jelly. Too bad we weren’t given small spoons to finish off the jelly.
Picky eater wondered why they only used an electric coil for grilling, saying meat would taste better if done quicker with a proper flame.
Meat arrived, Picky Eater started grilling. I looked at the a la Carte menu and wanted to order the skirt (封門柳). Actually was confused as to which parts we were eating cos no one bothered to intro the beef. Asked a server passing by and he said he didn’t know either, needed to get the manager.
Next came the beef hotdog. Picky Eater thought it funny since the signature of the sister shop was the uni hotdog. I liked mine, seaweed had a strong flavour, balanced well with the leaf and the meat.
Server cooked the sukiyaki for us. The small ball of rice was a good idea but I didn’t like that my ball of rice was cold.
The other stuff: appetisers (kimchi and spinach), soup, cold noodles and tofu IceCream were ok.
In summary, nice dinner, can go later to try the $1280 menu.
