Walking along Mong Kok after dinner, we noticed a new dessert place called Almond Dessert. It was small and seemed to serve Chinese desserts. Which we love to say, it's better for you as it's mostly based on natural ingredients.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. It's a very VERY small place. They served a variety of basic Chinese desserts that we've all come to love.One of these was a dessert using Moore Jelly. I've never heard of Moore Jelly before so gave it a try

One of these was a dessert using Moore Jelly. I've never heard of Moore Jelly before so gave it a try. They had several versions so we chose Moore Jelly with Mango Smoothie, Mango, Mini Taro Balls and Coconut Jelly ($62). Served in a wooden bowl, this dessert was packed with a lot of things. The taro balls and coconut jelly were chewy. The mango smoothie had a nice strong mango taste and there were diced mango as well.
And the Moore Jelly? It looked like glass jelly. It even tasted a bit like it but had a slight bitterness. Not as bitter as turtle jelly but a bit. Interesting and it felt very healthy.
Boyfriend had the Steamed Milk Pudding with Tangyuan in Coconut Shell ($69).
The warm dessert had three black sesame tangyuen. The tangyuen was soft and chewy. The sesame filling wasn't too sweet.
The coconut was filled to the brim with a smooth yet strong milk pudding that was creamy in texture. The coconut iteself was also sweet and tender.
A friend had the Longan Smoothie ($55). A favorite dessert from the past that we finally found again here. Not too sweet with the crunchy bits of the jelly on top with a sweet taste of the longan in the ice.
The desserts were nicely made and not too sweet. Not as sweet as other places making one think it's more healthy than the average dessert place. Definitely a good place to go for after dinner eats.
