During these dark times in HK, simple joy is eating cheap comfort food at 兩草 Joy Cuisine, a hidden gem in Tai Hang away from the crowds (and police) in nearby Causeway Bay. The essence of the pork with rice was definitely the special soy sauce that made the two dishes extra delicious. The soft pork patty went really well with the crispy edges and runny yolk of the fried egg while the bbq pork had a perfect balance of fatty and lean meat with a creamy scrambled egg on top. We ordered the boiled vegetables as a side dish for a balanced meal, which also had the special soy sauce to our delight.
We were also very impressed by the fusion xiao long bao, as it used bak kut teh soup (pork ribs tea) as the base. I’m not a huge fan of the medicinal taste, but the herbs did add extra flavor to the juicy and tender pork inside the steamed buns.

The homemade kaya toast made the perfect dessert, as the rich coconut flavor was not overly sweet and the bread was toasted to a crunchy perfection!
