Stopped by my favourite (the only?) Aussie charcoal chicken shop in Hong Kong last weekend for a recovery brunch. Stopped by my favourite (the only?) Aussie charcoal chicken shop in Hong Kong last weekend for a recovery brunch.
Located in Quarry Bay, this outdoor dining spot on the cosy Hoi Wan St just a street back from Island East and 5 mins from MTR is the perfect place to enjoy a casual lunch with friends over some authentic Aussie style Charcoal Chicken and drinks.
Aside from the herb and stuffing round chicken and Portuguese style flat chicken options they are known for, they are also serving up char grilled peri peri chicken burgers with their fantastic chicken salted fries.
A juicy chicken thigh fillet marinated in Portuguese flavours coupled with crisp lettuce and Flames peri peri aioli all served on a lightly toasted sesame seed bun.
It definitely brought back memories of my favourite chicken burgers back in Australia and at HK$88 it's quite a good value meal and very filling.
I washed it down with my favourite Pure Blond beer and it definitely got me going again after a big night.
I also saw some bacon and egg rolls come out of the kitchen when I was there and the pasta and other menu options as well as salad all looked pretty fresh and tasty.
Only downside is the outdoor seating which can get a bit hot during the day and prone to drippy air cons from above and other local noises and going ins however it is a very relaxing spot you could easily spend a couple of hours.
All in all a must visit any time of day if you live in the area and well worth the short trip up the MTR to visit too. Tasty stuff and I'll be back!!
