I’ve always loved Carbone, it’s atmosphere and it’s food. I have also been a loyal customer to this place. I have been here on numerous occasions since it first opened, and had many birthday celebrations here (Eg. private room booking, lunches and dinners). So, I thought it would be a safe choice for another get together with some old friends over dinner. However they recently changed their booking system online (ie phone bookings no longer available) but there is a small print that I didn’t n
However they recently changed their booking system online (ie phone bookings no longer available) but there is a small print that I didn’t notice - which specifically says that the meal is only limited to 2 hours. In fact I booked through the online platform just before Chinese New Year, on a Saturday night as well, but was never asked to leave after 2 hours had passed.
We realised this small print when we were asked, tonight, to leave before we finished all our desserts and the bottles of wine we ordered.
Unfortunately it was an unpleasant experience given that this is something new we encountered at this restaurant since it’s opening. So, I feel like I should draw this to attention of other users booking this restaurant through the online platform- that dinner is only limited to 2 hours, regardless of whether you’re celebrating a birthday (which we were) or not.
In any event, I would like to give props to the manager Jack who tried his best to apologise about the inconvenience caused and offered to give us another table (after we were asked to leave our table and finish our drinks at the bar). However by the time we were offered another table we just
felt too tired and no longer in the mood to stay at the restaurant.
Normally I would give a rating of great but this time I gave only an ok. Perhaps they should alert old customers of this new fine print when they book, because they do have a record of their customers and their details.
Anyway, this post is just to make other users aware of this small print, should you book the restaurant through their website! If you would like to stay longer than 2 hours, I would advise you to post a special request with the online booking.
