Shek Kee Restaurant has been one of my favoruite Hong Kong tea house restaurants since high school. The chef cooks the food with fresh ingredients and more importantly without any MSG – without MSG is rather rare in Hong Kong. I have not visited the restaurant for years, and I am glad that I finally has the chance to make a quick lunch at Shek Kee Restaurant. 木瓜雪耳豬肉湯 (4/10)
The soup was full of flavour, the papaya gave a hint of sweetness to the soup and the flavour of the pork was fully developed within.
豉汁凉瓜炒猪肉 (4/10)
Bitter Melon was very fresh, rather seasonal and stir-fried with the pork well, crunchiness maintained. The pork was rather tender. More importantly, the black bean sauce was thick and kept the dish well hot. It the chef has the time to breaks the black bean it would be even better.
As far as I remember a dinner at Shek Kee cost me about HK$40 a few years back, and now a lunch cost me almost HK$50, the inflation is crazy. But certainly the quality maintained, perhaps a revisit during dinner period is a must, because menu option was rather limited during lunch.
Give me a thumbs up if you like it!
