Craving some high quality handmade pasta? The Attic is definitely the place to go! Had this bookmarked for a while now and finally got around to trying it out. Pic 1️⃣: Handmade Fettuccine with Chorizo in Italian Tomato Sauce - $138 hkd 🍅
— This was so delicious! You can definitely tell the fettuccine is handmade from the rich eggy taste and it was cooked to a perfect al dente texture. The chorizo was nicely stir fried beforehand which allowed all of the spices and oils to render out and blended in really well into the tomato sauce. Loved that the sauce had a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity whilst not overpowering the fettuccine.
Pic 2️⃣: Handmade Linguine Carbonara - $148 hkd 🍝
— The carbonara was indulgent and cooked in an incredibly rich, creamy sauce. First impression of it was the intense cheesiness and eggy flavour that came through, which I couldn’t really tell if it was from the linguine or the sauce. The cheese is slightly overpowering and may be too heavy for some people. The linguine was cooked perfectly and soaked up the carbonara sauce nicely.
Pic 3️⃣: Burrata Cheese with Tomato Salad and Pickled Watermelon 🥗
— The burrata was slightly disappointing as it wasn’t creamy and rich at all and had quite a runny texture. The pickled watermelon tasted a bit strange and was way too acidic for my preference. Vegetables were fresh but the salad dressing was very sweet.
Pic 4️⃣: Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio with Lemon Gel 🍋
— This was alright, the scallops didn’t really taste of anything so the entire dish lacked flavour in general. The lemon gel was overly sweet but had a nice aroma to it.
Pic 5️⃣: Daily Soup (Tomato Soup) 🥣
— Soup was average, rich tomato and mixed herbs taste and seasoned well. However, texture was a bit grainy/gritty and wasn’t smooth enough for a soup.
Overall rating:
😋Taste: pasta is quite good, starters need improvement
📍Ambiance: lovely interior and decor, staff are friendly and approachable
⭐️Would visit again?: Yes! It’s rare that restaurants have set lunches during the weekend for an affordable price!
