Festival Walk is the type of mall that boyfriend and I always remark ... so many restaurants but all of them uninteresting. And there isn't a lot of other options outside the mall. It's basically mall food. But we were here to watch a movie and thus, stuck here for wondering what to eat for dinner here.仝堂茶聚 (English name: Tong Tong Town) was a name that popped up. Like a play on Kowloon Tong itself, we decided to try it out.The layout of the restaurant is like the other restaurants in this mall.

The layout of the restaurant is like the other restaurants in this mall. They have a seating section that is in the actual mall area along with seating inside as well. Seating is comfortable with a lot of soft sofa type seats available. Menu is in English and Chinese and is in the form a of a piece of paper to check off what you want.
Young Master's Cha Chan Teng Gose ($35). They have a drink list which had local based craft beer. This peaked boyfriend's interest and he ordered this to give it a try. It was ok and was more like lighter San Miguel.
Red Bean Bun ($59). If boyfriend was to have his beer, I wanted my cute dim sum! I saw these cute little birdie bao and yep ... that's what I wanted. These were stuffed with red bean paste and pretty delicious. The bao was soft and fluffy and remained so even when it got cold. The bean paste was smooth and not overly sweet.
Stir Fry 3.6 Hoikkaido Milk with Parma Ham ($79). This was a twist on the traditional Shanghai dish of stir frying milk. But here they use milk from Hoikkaido so it's eve creamier and topped it with Parma ham instead of Jinhua ham that is more commonly used. It worked as Jinhau ham is cured in much the same way as Parma ham so it was a nice salty contrast against the sweet stir fried milk. I also found it not as oily as some places that do this same dish. Liked the crunchy pine nuts for texture.
Sweet and Sour Pork with Pineapple ($89). I like sweet and sour pork and this was pretty good. The coating wasn't too thick. The pork was tender. They used fresh pineapple which is a plus for me. The sauce was not too much but coated everything well.
Crispy Rice in Lobster Bisque ($89). We saw the table next to us order this so we gave it a try. A lobster bisque with a jar of crispy rice.
You're supposed to pour the crispy rice into the broth. A new take on the crispy rice soup but instead of using a clear broth, they have opted for a thicker rich lobster bisque.
The thing with crispy rice soup, the crispy rice tends to become soggy after a while. But here it didn't! It did soak up the soup very well but still remained crispy. Even after leaving it soaking for quite some time, it still was crunchy.
The soup was rich and packed with things like shrimp meat and mushrooms as well, so it was almost like meal on it's own.
Charcoal Pork Ribs ($79). This was ok. A bit on the sweet side as they used a lot of glaze on top. There were some beans on the side that were very sweet but also very hard.
Green Apple Cake ($42). For dessert we chose an apple cake as this was photographed on the menu. It did appear as an apple!
Cutting it open, there was some apple pie type filling inside. The cake itself was a soft mousse like texture and the coating was made of crispy white chocolate and a green gel. This was pretty good. Not too sweet.
Cherry Cake ($42). We also saw they offered a cherry cake so I chose that. This looked just like a red apple cake except the chocolate stem was a bit longer to indicate it was a cherry.
Cutting it open, this was filled with red maraschino cherries. I personally like maraschino cherries but boyfriend didn't. It did get bit too sweet after a while. We both decided the apple cake was far better.
Deep Fried Sago Pudding ($39). We were about to leave when we saw this on the menu. Deep fried sago pudding. How would they deep fry a pudding? By wrapping it in spring roll wrap and deep frying it, of course! This dessert was clearly the winner! The spring roll was crispy. The sago pudding was sweet and it was like eating warm sago pudding. I wasn't too keen on the chocolate (Horlick?) powder on top. But this was the best of the entire meal and I'd order it again.
A modern and younger Chinese restaurant. The place was busy and it was a weekday night. Understandable as the food was pretty good and inventive. Service was fine as well as dishes were cleared without feeling rushed. Would come again.
