UK vs HK Kanada-ya in London is a pretty popular restaurant (at least amongst Uni students) especially when it has a very good location, on one of the busiest streets in London. I encountered a huge wave of people queuing up when I passed by at all times. Frankly, they do have quite a tiny shop there, so I suspect that might be the reason for the queue. Comparatively, the HK Kanada-ya shop is relatively bigger. Also, the HK shop has more separate tables, much more convenient and comfortable for

Comparatively, the HK Kanada-ya shop is relatively bigger. Also, the HK shop has more separate tables, much more convenient and comfortable for group dining than that of the London shop where they have a huge sharing table in the middle of the shop. I felt so squashy there and got to leave soon after I finished my noodles. I much prefer having Kanada-ya in HK in terms of the dining environment.
As for the noodles, I do find both have equally high quality and they are quite similar. I always love their original ramen- Chashu ramen: tonkotsu with pork collar chashu, wood-ear mushroom, nori, negi and hanjuku egg. The pork collar is very well cooked, perfect balance of fat and meat. The best part of the bowl is definitely the soup base – 18 hrs broth boiled to perfection! The aroma lingers in your mouth making it very appetizing. The hanjuku egg is another highlight of the meal, I like the texture of it a lot, hard outside but soft and runny inside.
On a side note, Kanada-ya in HK is actually cheaper than that in London. It costs around $80-$100 in HK, but in London it would cost at least $100 or more.
Overall, Kanada-ya is indeed on of my top choices amongst the popular ramen shops in town.
