We've ordered a large number of kushiage. These photographs were from two visits:
Kimchi:
You could choose to dip the kishiage in rock salt, ponzu and "sauce" (like a thicker version of HP sauce).
Mentaiko: Choose between raw or grilled. It's not as fresh as those served at specialist shop Tararanya but not complaints. Probably it's better grilled. Perfect with sochu.
The chicken wings were probably the Nagoya type, i.e. deep fried with a layer of sweet miso sauce and sesame. I think these were definitely better than those served at "Nagoya" and probably similar to "Sekai no yama chan".
Plum Crystal: The small cup contained diced Japanese plum meat with salmon (?) soft bones. A very interesting delicacy that should be very good with sake. Not bad with sochu either.
Aparently very good for ...mens' health. Whether that's the case or not, it's still very tasty. The texture is a bit like tofu. The batter outside was again perfectly crunchy with the shirako inside still very soft and tasty. Perfect timing. Recommended.
This was a definite hit amongst everyone that night. Served with tartar sauce and fresh salmon roes, the scallop was big and had a lot of umami. Definitely not to be missed.
We also had crab leg kushiage. That was also good but I forgot to take a photo of it.
There is also a large sochu and sake selection, which is really the main reason for coming here. I had a sochu mixed with habenero called "Raaa". It felt a bit like drinking tabasco! That certainly woke me up immediately.
Another important point is the large amount of alcohol selection and that it's open till 4:30 a.m.!
Definitely a place I'll return to time and again.
