Found this restaurant by chance when I was loafing around Central some time before.  Located at the busiest road in Central with elegant interior design.  Made a reservation and had dinner last night.  it's really nice!  Great food, chilled atmosphere, good service, reasonable price.  Definitely will visit again.

I had booked a table for NYE via whatsapp, I was very specific about which table I wanted - I even sent them pictures, and I was pleasantly surprised that they were very accommodating and secured that particular table for me, let's be honest we were all attracted by the décor. However, on the night the staff told me that they were unable to provide that table, she told me that the restaurant does not guarantee tables for customers, I showed her the whatsapp chat and she later transferred us to a sofa table (we were originally seated in the middle of the dining room).

When ordering I asked the waiter about portion sizes as I wanted to order two pastas between the two of us, he suggested ordering a pasta and a main instead, I've heard bad things about the mains so I wanted to pass. Overall the waiter was not very helpful with ordering.

For a $480 sandwich, there was nothing refined or delicate about it; the focaccia had holes in it (not pictured) and the uni was kinda melting. Taste wise, it was surprisingly good, I didn't expect much from the tuna but it was soft and flavourful, the uni and the caviar added an extra layer of umami on top and I'd say it worked quite well together in a mouthful. I also noticed they used golden caviar instead of black perhaps because it was NYE. This is a dish I would eat again if not for the hefty price tag.

Then came the red prawn linguine, we never asked for it to be divided into two portions nor were we notified that it would be divided. Why did I have such a big problem with this? Oh that's right because the divided portion size was pitiful. PITIFUL. I almost didn't wanted to take a picture of it. This was a main right? I could down that plate in 3 bites. The dish itself was good, the prawns were slightly cooked on the outside, the inside still had that raw sashimi texture so you get the best of both worlds. Pasta was al dente as it should be. Again, pitiful portion size.

I asked the waiter not to divide the next pasta and the kitchen complied thankfully. The portion size of the duck confit fettucine was so generous... and this was the less expensive pasta! Why should the portion size be so different? And oh my goodness the fettucine was an absolute disaster! I am no expert in Italian cuisine but I do know that fettucine is not supposed to be paper thin! As you can see in the photo it was so thin that it was translucent, it reminded me of a type of Taiwanese noodles. The duck confit was nothing special, the sauce was pretty mundane, maybe I was too in awe of the pasta itself to make logical judgment. 

We didn't even bother ordering dessert because we didn't want to be further disappointed. Also the waiters were just lurking the entire time, I sat on the sofa side and it was just so distracting seeing 5 waiters just snooping left and right, this is a pretty personal thing so it might not bother everyone, I'm just extremely sensitive, I think the best waiters are the ones in stealth mode unless you need something from them. 

Just when we thought this silly dinner was over, as we attempted to walked out of the restaurant, we were ushered out to the back door... that's right, a fine dining restaurant ushers customers out the back door. Did you not want me to disturb your customers as I walked out? Was the front door locked already? Or is this normal behaviour I should be okay with?

First things first, coffee is a must, especially cuz they're an italian place with the word caffe in its name. To bad they missed the word oatmilk twice when I ordered my coffee. Thank god I could smell the difference or my stomach would be having a rollar coaster ride throughout the meal.

If you can only get one thing, get the tiramisu. It's exactly the really runny and rich yellow tiramisu that I like. They didn't hold back on the espresso and alcohol so that's a thumbs up from me. The beef carpaccio is not bad, delicate thin slices and the parmesan shavings is also a good combo.

We wanted to have something special so we opted for the calf's liver as a main to share among the table. It's covered in sautéed onions which were super sweet, and the liver itself was slightly beefy around the edges but the middle (and fattiest) parts were nice. It's a shame there so many fingerprints on the plates and they got our order wrong .


We also ordered 4 pastas, too bad we can't seem to find the sauces hahahhaa  tell me if you can recognise the dish as a cacio e pepe? Or just a bowl of boiled pasta?

The fettuccine ragout is the best out of the four pastas (two red prawns, cacio e pepe and fettuccine) because it had the most distinguishable flavours.

Haven’t seen such opposite comments toward a restaurant before, Venedia Grancaffe indeed stir up quite a debate as to whether it’s good or not in the foodie world.

Based on my one visit, I think it is ok but not great. The burrata and mushroom soup were up to par.

We ordered 3 pastas coz the girls are all about carbs 😂 All three pasta were al dente. My preference are: Lobster spaghetti > Red Prawn Linguine > Beef Ragout Fettuccine (as I don’t really like the texture of the fettuccine). The red prawn linguine could have a stronger taste but given it’s price, I think it’s fine. The diced up red prawn is also fine with me. It’s just slightly cooked so it has a semi sashimi texture. The lobster spaghetti is well seasoned though the lobster is a bit over cooked.

As for the desserts, don’t bother about them. Not worth ordering at all.

Got to praise them for their decor and cutleries!

The highlight was definitely the two pasta dishes. The Linguine “Gentile” red prawns (+$160) was incredibly rich in the prawn crustacean flavor and the linguine was spot on al dente.

Their Classic Tiramisu ($70) was another smashing dessert, it’s indulgently creamy with extra rich marsala and coffee flavor in the well-soaked ladyfinger, just think there’s too much of the mascarpone and not enough ladyfinger, a bit out of proportion.

呢個係vegetarian dish🥬,醬汁只用左basil pesto同parmigiano cheese,上面灑上pine nuts 同cherry tomatoes confit。呢款Gnocchi仲要綠色望落真係有D似蟲蟲🐛,不過食落味道唔錯,Gnocchi口感彈牙,pine nuts增添口感層次,cheese唔係嗰種拉絲效果但係個sauce都算好食👌🏻。

厚厚一層嘅洋蔥下面有大約6-7舊牛肝🐮,賣相可能唔太討好,成PAD洋蔥🧅又好難present得好睇嘅...牛肝係用燜燴方法炮製而成,咬落味道鮮明,有小許蘇味,不過都係牛肝本身嗰種味道,都可以接受,小編會recommend大家叫反枝紅酒🍷,味道會更加夾。

愛酒嘅朋友㨂左呢枝來自意大利嘅紅酒🍷,幾易入口,無論係配牛肝定係其他菜式都一流👏🏻!根據呢位朋友,大部份餐廳嘅bottle會比市價mark up 3倍,呢度只係mark up左兩倍,相對地低飲😆~

可能嚟之前對餐廳有太大期望,食物質素有點未達預期,同等價錢會有更好選擇🤭。至於服務都有待改善,例如其實早個半月前已book枱講明慶生🎂,到達時餐廳仲好多位,但卻安排我地坐門口,所以小編當日係咩環境都無😿,只好借用餐廳offical account D相話俾大家知入面有幾靚。
店員重覆問幾次order左野食未,但係原來係經理唔記得幫我地落單🤷🏻‍♀️。
餐前sourdough bread遲遲都未到,可能完全忽略左坐門口嘅客人。
店員亦會放錯刀叉位置等等。
雖然都係小事,但係喺呢類型餐廳會expect較好嘅service🤦🏻‍♀️。
總括嚟講,呢間餐廳試過就可以,小編就唔會再訪了。

Worst of all was one waitress came to our table to clear up while I was still half way through my chicken dish! I actually have to ask her stop doing that right in front of me while I was eating! The service is worse than cha chan tan!
2. The lobster pasta at $380 is a total rip-off, they actually use frozen lobster claws, all you get in your pasta is 3 frozen claws that tasted so bland and soggy. 3 of us ordered that, and we were shocked by the quality of this pasta dish.

今日試中環e間新餐廳餐廳嘅定位介乎fine dining同Cafe中間裝修都適合打卡午餐時間有set lunch我同行有大家都叫咗幾個唔同嘅食物黎share陶館呢個沙律酸酸地味道都唔錯幾開胃之後呢個係炸豬扒,配上海膽同埋魚子醬麵包係剛剛烘熱炸豬扒剛剛炸起豬扒嘅油會參左去麵包上面好好味意粉就一般般蝦有d痴口唔太新鮮呢個係炸牛仔肉裡面係ham同cheese距炸得唔算乾都ok嘅同埋有配菜整體來講食物嘅質素唔錯當然價錢都唔平啦但如果嚟打卡同想搵個舒服嘅環境傾吓計我覺得都可以嘅

老公早到,並要來了 Suavia Monte Carbonare Soave Classico 2018 HK$630

    由 100% 意大利 Garganega 葡萄釀製,帶有成熟檸檬、焗蘋果和淺淺蜜桃香,清爽中帶輕甜。放溫後,甜度會變重,所以記得 Chill 夠才享用!

中式牛筋吃慣了,感覺這道意式的牛仔筋甚為特別!

牛仔筋先以薄切呈上,口感保留牛筋香軟彈滑的特質,要加分的是運用了爽口的蔬菜絲和芫荽醋,既能增添層次感,其次是又香又開胃,讚!

香港人對生牛肉絕不陌生,然而這道生牛肉來得瀟灑、沒有一絲負擔,達到前菜的一大優勝之處!

生牛肉選用上 M5 西冷,每口就是牛香和舒暢的柔滑感,還佐以芝士、洋蔥和火箭菜沙律,進一步將牛香提升,好吃也!

第二訪換上龍蝦,老公挑了 Spaghettini "Martelli" HK$380!味道同樣是一流,而超嫩彈水盈的龍蝦質感,最令我難忘!

若然要我將紅蝦與龍蝦作比較,無疑我會更喜歡香氣較濃厚和麵質略為彈牙的紅蝦扁意大利麵!

同樣試過了兩款主食,不過 Baby Chicken Alla Provenzale HK$330 明顯成為我的大愛!餐牌簡單寫上蒜、羅勒和洋蔥,可是春雞的香氣格外撩人,引得我和朋友也不禁與其合照!半脆的皮層鋪上香草和吸收了柔和的醃料,一咬連帶嫩滑的雞肉也惠及,發放出不是驚為天人的滋味,而是那種百吃不膩的溫婉,似是擁有一種愛與靈魂的細味!

怎樣才可做到這樣出色的春雞,看來我要多多練習!

據聞這是意大利北部的傳統美食,切開後,表層炸得酥香的牛仔肉流出湃澎的芝士,裡面還夾附意大利火腿。無疑那火喉的掌控技巧、香郁的流心芝士,還有搭配上鮮有濃烈菜香的火箭菜,對味蕾均有著爆炸性的衝擊,與及值得人欣賞的地方。但我的味蕾還是被那柔和的春雞所迷倒,純屬個人喜好,得親自去品嚐!

外表沒那樣,但一咬隨即領略到餅廚超凡的酥皮功力!酥皮造得極度纖薄,口感利落、完全不油;雖感覺蘋果撻像是由多層酥皮摺疊而成,究竟幾多層,當然肉眼是看不清!

至於味道也是喜歡的,第一是輕甜、第二是蘋果撻散發出自然的微酸與甜,第三是不用多提的出色酥皮,蘋果撻原來可以那樣的清新!

杏仁片是蘋果撻香味的主要來源,反之餡料中的蘋果相對的淡然,我在想如果蘋果餡厚一點,讓蘋果的特性更顯著的話,效果會否更完美?!

第二款試過的甜品牛角飽與開心果雪糕 HK$70,本是下午茶專享的選擇,但經理費心為我們特別安排了,讓我們可一試傳統意式 Grancaffe 的食物!

仍感覺到甜甜的牛角包在冰凍的雪榚影響下,質感依然鬆軟可口、表層更帶點討人的焦香。開心果雪糕鋪上密麻麻的開心果是極大的亮點,西西里島出產的 Bronte 開心果,既香脆又鬆化,果然令人加倍開心!只不過,如果可以調整一下雪糕的開心果味的比重會更好,因為奶味要比開心果味強烈多了,未能滿足開心果雪糕癮!

Finally tried this newly opened resto by octavo group. I have heard lots mixed reviews, so I had lower my expectations, turns out I think it was ok.. there were hits and misses, but at least not as bad as some reviews had mentioned. Finally tried this newly opened resto by octavo group.
I have heard lots mixed reviews, so I had lower my expectations, turns out I think it was ok.. there were hits and misses, but at least not as bad as some reviews had mentioned.

We ordered Tuna focaccia sando, red prawns linguine, grilled octopus salad, and dessert apple tart and tiramisu.

First of all, I was impressed by the complimentary bread, it was served warm, taste good and soft, and the olive oil taste great too.

the tuna sando, The look of the sando was really tempting, but it was not as good as it seems, it was not bad, but not like “wow” as I thought it would be.

red prawn linguine, saw some quite opposite comments… well, I liked the prawn’s semi-sashimi texture a lot, so fresh and tasty, the red prawn pasta sauce was full of umami too, but the downside was the linguine was undercooked, not al dente.. is literally crunchy and hard in some point .. it would be great if it was perfectly cooked al dente..
and it was served in two separate plates as we were sharing, so nice of them, but I prefer they serve it in one plate so I could take nicer photos 😂

No need to order ..

The desserts - tiramisu was pretty good, delicious and authentic .. but the apple tart was such a disappointment. It doesn’t look or taste like a tart and I couldn’t find any apple 😂 don’t bother to order this one..

Overall, I think everything was just average and pricy.. if I didn’t lower my expectations, I would be disappointed for sure. I can see why there were lots negative reviews, as ppl would expect more from octavo group and the name of chef Roland Schiller.. and in terms of the price, there are lots other alternatives in the area. (Love their interior decor and the beautiful cutleries though, and the service was not bad on the day I went.) I think they could do better, just need to ensure consistent quality.
