Pici is a rare type of restaurant in Hong Kong. Why? They have a focus and that focus is pasta. Fresh handmade pasta to be exact. With an opening in Wanchai, it fast became one of my favorite restaurants of 2017 when it opened. And quite a few others agreed with me that this was one of Hong Kong's best restaurants. With queues late into the night, they opened up another branch in Central with even longer queues. And now? They have crossed the harbor and added a new branch in Tsim Sha Tsui.Boyfri

Boyfriend and I came here as we both had a pasta crave. We thought as it was new and in Tsim Sha Tsui, it would be more quiet. Even the location was a bit hidden. Located in an area that has several eateries but mostly known for having late night drinks at a bar, this was definitely hidden away from the more popular Tsim Sha Tsui area. Let me tell you ... I'm glad we came early. A queue also started to form later on and the place filled up very fast. So, yes, do come early as you cannot make reservations.

The Tsim Sha Tsui branch is a lot more spacious. A bit like the Central branch with a lot more tables and less of a bar-like feel (though to be honest, I still love the Wanchai one for it's up close and personal viewing of the pasta making as it's so small and compact).

The menu is in English only. There is no 10% service charge. It's small and to the point.  Starters, pasta, dessert. Clear and concise.

They have a tasting menu that costs $280 per person. This includes two starters, three pastas and two desserts. For those that want more bang for their buck, this is a really good option. You can choose any starter, pasta and dessert on the menu. That is what we decided. To do the tasting menu.

They start you off with bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar for dipping. The bread if fantastic. Soft with a lovely chewy crust.  And they readily refill if you want more.

Aperol Spritz ($90). While deciding what pasta to choose from, we began with drinks. Aperol Spritz is a great light starter drink for the hot summer months. A sweet light amount of bubbles. This was a like a light soft drink with a little alcohol.

Negroni ($90). Boyfriend wanted something stronger and this I felt was seriously good. A great balance of gin with the bitterness of the campari giving it a citrus taste.

Handmade Meatballs ($90). The meatballs were generously topped with freshly grated Parmesan. The meatballs were soft and fluffy. And the sauce ... a rich tomato sauce.

Seafood Salad ($110). The waiter informed us that this dish was found at this branch only so we decided to give it a  try. Boyfriend was a bit wary with the words salad as he hates anything green.  But when it arrived, it was clearly all seafood. No greens in sight! There was octopus, calamari, prawn and mussels. With a simple drizzle of lemon oil to give it that touch of freshness.  The seafood were not overcooked. But my favorite had to be the octopus. So soft and tender!

Fagottini ($130). Fagottini were these little triangular pieces of pasta stuffed with leek and Parmesan. I've never had this type of pasta before so I was clearly curious.

Cute as a button! They were wonderfully stuffed with leeks and Parmesan. The duck ragu was rich and flavorful.

Tagliolini ($160). This is clearly for truffle fans as it's topped with a lot of freshly shaved truffle. The pasta was al dente and had a small hint of truffle oil.

Pasta of the day (Ravioli with mozzarella cheese with tomato sauce) ($130). I think this is perhaps my favorite pasta of the night. The pasta of the day may have been simple but isn't that what pasta is supposed to be? A simple yet filling meal? the ravioli was stuffed with cheese. But it was the sauce. The tomato sauce was rich and sweet. The taste of basil was strong and I  loved it.

Ravioli ($120). As we had arrived early, they didn't run out of the ravioli this time! The last few times I was at Pici, they had run out of the ravioli. So, we added this. You only get two ravioli but trust me. If you love ravioli like me, than this is a must order.

Why? Because it's stuffed with one runny egg yolk. I love runny egg yolk and added to the richness of the dish. It was topped with savory mushrooms.  I think I would have preferred a simple brown butter sauce as I think it would have made the yolk a clear star. But it was still lovely.

Tiramisu ($55). There is only two desserts on the menu so we chose both. The tiramisu was rich and decadent. I could have done with more espresso but that is just me. I love it when it's rich in espresso. But otherwise, it was super creamy.

Panna Cotta ($55). I loved this one more actually. The panna cotta was creamy and smooth. The raspberry sauce was super sour so it balanced out the rich creaminess of this dessert so it didn't feel like it was too much.

Pici is definitely for pasta fans. The pasta is cooked perfectly with a sauce that showcases it. Definitely go for the tasting menu as it is a super good deal. Otherwise, all the dishes are still generous enough to share. Service is friendly and answered questions very well. No wonder it's still busy every day. Line up. It's worth it. I will be back.

知道意大利pasta餐廳Pici 已經係港島開咗中環同灣仔分店好一段時間,最近喺網上睇到佢喺尖沙咀都終於開分店,就一於去試一下。佢原來冇得訂位,一定要得要walk in,星期六大約七點度到去到,竟然唔係好多人,去到餐廳門口侍應熱情招呼,向我地介紹佢哋所有pasta都係自製絕對唔係普通超級市場可以買到嘅一包包pasta。佢哋安排左望廚房位俾我哋坐,睇到廚房入邊好乾淨, 有位廚師自製緊墨魚汁意大利粉!環境都坐得尚算舒服,但大約坐到八點鐘到佢都開始爆滿就變得好嘈,傾計都要大聲講至得侍應好有耐性咁介紹餐牌上嘅pasta,亦都有不停為我地添水食物方面我哋叫咗一個starter, 兩個pasta 同一人一個dessert Cold Cut - 芝士同Parma ham都好好食,絕對可以媲美正宗意大利餐廳個味調校得好好,啱啱焗好上菜,熱辣辣,鍾意食芝士嘅classic lasagne 一定會係你自愛 Orecchiette - 又稱貓耳朵,好有咬口,初初睇落以為份量好細,但其實食完lasagne, 再食呢個,有咁多芝士其實已經好飽~Tiramisu 好食,但香港人口味來講應該算太甜Pana Cott

總括以上,佢嘅價錢合理環境舒服,最緊要係pasta真係好好味,啱啱食完,已經想再擇日再試佢其他pasta!

It was so nice to know that Pici opened a new branch in Tsim Sha Tsui East. I personally tried the restaurant in Wan Chai and found that they made really good pasta. Now I don't need to travel so far for good pasta . Me and my friend enjoyed an early dinner. Ordered two pasta and two sets of dessert. Love the Tagliolini, I believe that's a signature dish. What was the best has to be the Tiramisu which was the final item which completed the meal. I will certainly come again.

First day opening, they had a 500 pasta give away. I went pass so I went to have a free pasta. Also they had free beer, bread and dessert. They have a tomato cream pork Ragu spicy. This is not my first time to go to pici . They dining area is bigger than the wan chai one. Love it. Will go back again
