Nice decor. Friendly staff
Ordered steak/chips and salmon dish.
Service was efficient but...
Steak was rare possibly med rare at best, ordered medium. Chips were stone cold.
Salmon was over cooked, ordered medium.
We tried to make best of it but too far off the mark. Staff were pleasant and removed dishes to try again. I requested to have steak cooked slightly more, salmon was complete a redo.
Steak came first, cooked medium and chips were hot. Success!
Salmon came out barely seared and raw throughout. Again got staff attention and asked for it to be medium rare - medium. Away it went once again
Came out for a 3rd time but really not much improvement. No point to send it back again, it’s truly beyond their capacity.
At no time did the staff check in with us after delivering the meals. One would think after a 2nd or 3rd attempt, someone would come to make sure it was up to speed.
We stuck with it, I finished my steak and my Mrs did best she could with the salmon. About ½ was left on the plate completely raw.
The staff did draw attention to the raw salmon , and I said overall it was pleasant but seemed like we weren’t getting thru on the salmon. She went on to explain because of the cut, it was impossible to make it as e we requested blah blah. I said we have it in many restaurants about 3-4 times per month. Never ever sent it back once, let alone twice. She seemed unfazed.
She took the plates and about then, the table next to us, light up cigarettes. In fairness To the couple they were sitting at a window table, facing outwards with the windows wide open. But the table is 100% inside the premises.
They apologised but I told them it’s not their fault. If the restaurant allows it, it’s the restaurant that culpable not the patron. The server mentioned that the ‘air blew outwards’. How lucky to have a cooking lesson and a physics lecture on fluid dynamics from the same person serving me dinner.
I paid up and vowed to never return, and spread the word. I would not go even for a free meal, the experience was that unpleasant.
Enjoy
